فيما تؤكد وسائل إعلام غربية وإيرانية استمرار الخلافات حول بندين من مذكرة التفاهم بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، رحبت رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية أورسولا فون دير لاين اليوم (الأحد) بالتقدم في مسار المفاوضات بين واشنطن وطهران.
وأكدت فون دير لاين، في منشور على حسابها في «إكس»، أهمية فتح مضيق هرمز أمام حركة الملاحة، ومنع إيران من تصنيع أسلحة نووية، موضحة أن أوروبا ستواصل العمل مع الشركاء الدوليين لاغتنام هذه اللحظة من أجل التوصل إلى حل دبلوماسي دائم بشأن إيران.
من جهته، رحب رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر بـ«التقدم المحرز نحو التوصل إلى اتفاق بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران»، مؤكداً الحاجة إلى اتفاق ينهي الحرب ويسمح بفتح مضيق هرمز.
وقال ستارمر: «سنعمل مع شركائنا الدوليين لاغتنام هذه اللحظة والتوصل إلى حل دبلوماسي طويل الأمد»، مشدداً على ضرورة عدم السماح لإيران أبداً بتصنيع سلاح نووي.
وفي غضون ذلك، نقلت صحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال» عن مصادر مطلعة أنه من غير المرجح أن يعالج الاتفاق الإطاري الحالي بين واشنطن وطهران قضايا مثل فرض قيود على برنامج الصواريخ الباليستية ودعم الجماعات المسلحة في المنطقة.
في المقابل، قالت وكالة «تسنيم» الإيرانية اليوم إن خلافات لا تزال قائمة بشأن بند أو بندين في مذكرة التفاهم الجاري التفاوض عليها بين إيران والولايات المتحدة.
ونقلت الوكالة عن مصدر مطلع قوله إن فرص التوصل إلى تفاهم نهائي بين إيران والولايات المتحدة ستتلاشى إذا استمرت واشنطن في وضع العراقيل أمام المفاوضات الجارية.
وبحسب مصادر متطابقة، فإن اليورانيوم المخصب، الذي تصر واشنطن على تسليمه وترفضه طهران، إضافة إلى الأموال المجمدة والعقوبات، لا تزال محل خلاف.
بدوره، قال مصدر إيراني كبير لوكالة «رويترز» إنه إذا وافق المجلس الأعلى للأمن القومي الإيراني على مذكرة التفاهم المرتقبة مع الولايات المتحدة، فسيجري إرسالها إلى المرشد الإيراني مجتبى خامنئي للموافقة النهائية.
While Western and Iranian media confirm ongoing disagreements over two points in the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed today (Sunday) the progress in the negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Von der Leyen emphasized, in a post on her account on “X,” the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for navigation and preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, clarifying that Europe will continue to work with international partners to seize this moment to reach a lasting diplomatic solution regarding Iran.
For his part, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed “the progress made towards reaching an agreement between the United States and Iran,” stressing the need for an agreement that ends the war and allows for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Starmer stated: “We will work with our international partners to seize this moment and reach a long-term diplomatic solution,” emphasizing the necessity of never allowing Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.
Meanwhile, the “Wall Street Journal” reported, citing informed sources, that it is unlikely the current framework agreement between Washington and Tehran will address issues such as imposing restrictions on the ballistic missile program and supporting armed groups in the region.
In contrast, the Iranian news agency “Tasnim” stated today that disagreements still exist regarding one or two points in the memorandum of understanding currently being negotiated between Iran and the United States.
The agency quoted an informed source as saying that the chances of reaching a final understanding between Iran and the United States will diminish if Washington continues to place obstacles in the way of the ongoing negotiations.
According to matching sources, the enriched uranium, which Washington insists on delivering and Tehran refuses, in addition to frozen funds and sanctions, remains a point of contention.
For his part, a senior Iranian source told Reuters that if the Iranian Supreme National Security Council approves the anticipated memorandum of understanding with the United States, it will be sent to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei for final approval.
