الدول تقوم على تحقيق مصالحها الوطنية بغض النظر عن الأديان المسيطرة في هذه الدولة أو تلك، لكن في الواقع المعاصر نشهد العديد منها توظّف العقيدة الدينية في تحقيق مصالحها، والإشكالية ليس بهذا التوظيف، بل بخطاب وشعار تلك الدول الثورية الدينية، إذ ترفع الدين ونقيضه، كما نشهد في شعارات إيران الثورة الإسلامية منذ 1979، ومن ثم الأحزاب والتيارات التابعة لها، فقد تتلاشى مصالح الدول الوطنية، ويصبح الولاء للمذهب والمرجعية الدينية هو الأساس، وهذا ما نشهده في التيارات الإسلاموية السنية والشيعية على حدٍّ سواء. إيران مثلاً ومنذ قيام ثورتها الدينية التي يعتقد الكثير من المؤدلجين الإسلاميين وبعض تيارات اليسار العربي أنها هي من ستحرر فلسطين وتقضي على إسرائيل وشعارها كما هو معروف «الموت لأمريكا الموت لإسرائيل»، للأسف عند هؤلاء الحلول والوصول لها صفرية عدمية، ولكن عند النظام الإيراني غير ذلك، هو يهتم بالمصالح الإيرانية الفارسية المغلّفة بشعارات دينية حتى يسوق خطابه السياسي في المنطقة والعالم، ويمكن القول إنه نجح كثيراً في هذا المسعى لأسباب عديدة؛ منها الفراغ السياسي والأمني في العالم العربي والتي وصل الحال للكثير منها لأن تصبح أقرب إلى الدول الفاشلة، فهناك حروب أهلية عبثية تمزقها أو تدخلات إقليمية ودولية مدفوعة لمصالح تلك القوى، وحالة الصومال العربي مثال حي على الحالة العربية الممزقة التي تسمح لدول وقوى إقليمية للهيمنة على بعض الدول العربية، وما نشاهد من اعتراف إسرائيل مؤخراً بما يسمي بدولة «أرض الصومال» لدليل على حالة التشظي العربية.

اللافت في هذه الحرب الدائرة بين أمريكا وإسرائيل من جهة وإيران تكشف الولاءات الوطنية الحقيقية عند البعض في عالمنا العربي وفي خليجنا العربي البعض يحتفل بموقف إيران البطولي في هذه الساحة لأسباب ضربها لدولة إسرائيل بصواريخها البالستية التي لن تحسم المعركة ونتائجها النهائية، لكنها العواطف والأماني بتحرير فلسطين من دولة تضرب وتدمر الدول الخليجية العربية والجارة لإيران، وعندما تطرح مثل هذه التساؤلات لهؤلاء المؤدلجين فالجواب أن الغرب وإسرائيل هم من اعتدوا على إيران وهذا صحيح ولا أحد يختلف عليه، لكن كلنا نتابع حتى الآن الدول الخليجية قبل الحرب وأثناءها تصدر البيانات والتصريحات على لسان أكبر قيادتها بأن أراضيها وأجواءها ومياهها الوطنية لا ولن تستخدم ضد إيران من قبل الجانب الأمريكي، لكن هذا لم يكن كافياً أن تقتنع طهران أن دول الخليج بعيدة عن المشهد العسكري، وهي تعرف ذلك، لكنها تريد خلط الأوراق واستجلاب العواطف من شعوب المنطقة بأنها تحارب وتدافع عن المسلمين والمستضعفين في كل مكان وكأن شعوب الخليج العربي غير مسلمة وهي تدمَّر منشآتها المدنية ومقدراتها الاقتصادية، تخيل لو أن القيادة السياسة في إيران لم تستهدف دول الخليج العربي وتغلق مضيق هرمز كيف تغيرت درجة التعاطف الشعبي في الخليج معها، لكن ما حدث سيبقى لعقود قادمة، ولن يكون في صالح النظام الحاكم في إيران، ولن أقول إيران ذاتها الشعب والثقافة والحضارة.

Countries operate to achieve their national interests regardless of the dominant religions in this state or that one. However, in contemporary reality, we witness many of them employing religious doctrine to achieve their interests. The issue is not in this employment, but in the rhetoric and slogans of those revolutionary religious states, as they raise religion and its opposite. This is evident in the slogans of Iran’s Islamic Revolution since 1979, and subsequently in the parties and movements affiliated with it. National interests of states may fade away, and loyalty to sect and religious authority becomes the foundation. This is what we observe in both Sunni and Shia Islamist movements alike. For instance, Iran, since the establishment of its religious revolution, which many ideological Islamists and some currents of the Arab left believe will liberate Palestine and eliminate Israel, has its slogan well-known as “Death to America, Death to Israel.” Unfortunately, for these ideologues, the solutions and pathways to achieve them are nihilistic and zero-sum. However, for the Iranian regime, it is different; it is concerned with Persian Iranian interests cloaked in religious slogans to market its political discourse in the region and the world. It can be said that it has succeeded greatly in this endeavor for various reasons, including the political and security vacuum in the Arab world, where many countries have come close to failing states. There are senseless civil wars tearing them apart or regional and international interventions driven by the interests of those powers. The case of Arab Somalia is a vivid example of the fragmented Arab situation that allows regional states and powers to dominate some Arab countries. The recent recognition by Israel of what is called the “Somaliland” state is evidence of the state of Arab fragmentation.

What is striking in this ongoing war between America and Israel on one side and Iran on the other is the revelation of true national loyalties among some in our Arab world. In our Arab Gulf, some celebrate Iran’s heroic stance in this arena for its strikes against Israel with its ballistic missiles, which will not resolve the battle and its final outcomes. Yet, it is the emotions and hopes of liberating Palestine from a state that strikes and destroys the Gulf Arab states neighboring Iran. When such questions are posed to these ideologues, the answer is that the West and Israel are the ones who attacked Iran, which is true and no one disagrees with it. However, we all follow the Gulf states’ statements and declarations before and during the war, issued by their highest leadership, that their lands, airspace, and national waters will not and cannot be used against Iran by the American side. Yet, this was not enough to convince Tehran that the Gulf states are far from the military scene. They know this, but they want to mix the cards and evoke emotions from the peoples of the region, claiming that they are fighting and defending Muslims and the oppressed everywhere, as if the peoples of the Arab Gulf are not Muslims while their civil facilities and economic resources are being destroyed. Imagine if the political leadership in Iran had not targeted the Arab Gulf states and had closed the Strait of Hormuz; how the level of popular sympathy in the Gulf would have changed towards them. However, what has happened will remain for decades to come and will not be in favor of the ruling regime in Iran, and I will not say Iran itself, but rather its people, culture, and civilization.
