علاقة تعاون مع مراكز البحوث والدراسات
• متى تأسس مركز بحوث ودراسات المدينة المنورة، وما الدوافع التي قادت إلى إنشائه؟
•• تم تأسيس المركز على أنه وقف خيري غير ربحي بموجب الصك الشرعي الصادر عن المحكمة الشرعية الكبرى بتاريخ 1418هـ، والدوافع التي قادت لإنشائه؛ جمع المعلومات عن تاريخ المدينة المنورة من مختلف أوعية المصادر القديمة والحديثة الموثقة، ودراستها، وتقديمها للأجيال الحاضرة والقادمة بوسائل متنوعة، وإنشاء مكتبة متخصصة، وإقامة علاقة تعاون مع المراكز الأخرى للبحوث والدراسات، وإصدار الكتب، والدورات، والنشرات.
• من صاحب فضل تأسيس المركز، ومن تعاقب على إدارته منذ انطلاقته؟
•• مؤسس الوقف الأمير عبدالمجيد بن عبدالعزيز (رحمه الله) 1418هـ، ورأس مجلس نظارة مركز بحوث ودراسات المدينة المنورة خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، إبان ولايته العهد 1432هـ، وتعاقب على رئاسة المجلس أمراء منطقة المدينة المنورة وهم: الأمير مقرن بن عبدالعزيز 1420هـ – 1426هـ، الأمير عبدالعزيز بن ماجد بن عبدالعزيز 1426هـ – 1432هـ، الأمير فيصل بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز 1436هـ – 1445هـ، الأمير سلمان بن سلطان بن عبدالعزيز 1445هـ.

• كم عدد الإدارات أو الأقسام التي تعمل اليوم تحت مظلة المركز، وما أبرز اختصاصاتها؟
•• عدد إدارات المركز سبع إدارات؛ ومن أبرز الإدارات إدارة الشؤون العلمية ومن اختصاصاتها: المجال البحثي بإجراء البحوث والدراسات عن المدينة المنورة بشتى الجوانب، وإجراء التحقيق العلمي للمخطوطات، وإعداد المعاجم والموسوعات، وعقد ورش العمل العلمية لتحقيق المعلومات التاريخية في ما يتعلق بالمدينة المنورة.
فيما يختص المجال التوثيقي بتوثيق المصادر والمعلومات عن المدينة المنورة من دراسات، ومعلومات، ووثائق، وخرائط، وصور، وأفلام، وكتب، ومخطوطات، ومقتنيات، ورسائل جامعية، ومقالات، وروايات شفوية، والقيام برحلات وزيارات للتوثيق الميداني، وتوثيق أحداث السيرة النبوية.

•• يحظى المركز باهتمام شريحة كبيرة من المعتنين بتاريخ المدينة المنورة، ولما يتمتع به المركز من عناية خاصة بتاريخ وحضارة المدينة المنورة، من خلال المكتبة المتخصصة في المركز، فإن الإقبال على المركز يعد كبيراً ولله الحمد، والمركز يرحب بجميع فئات المجتمع والزوار سواء من داخل الإطار الأكاديمي أو غيره.
• كيف أسهم التحول الرقمي في تطوير أعمال المركز وتوسيع دائرة الاستفادة من محتواه العلمي؟
•• أسهم في تحويل المحتوى العلمي من مواد محفوظة ومحدودة الوصول إلى محتوى منظم قابل للبحث، ومتاح لفئات أوسع من مختلف الدول والمناطق عبر منصات رقمية معرفية متخصصة؛ من أبرزها منصة المستودع الرقمي التي تضم الأبحاث والمجلات الصادرة عن المركز.
كما أتاح المتجر الإلكتروني للمركز وسيلة حديثة لاقتناء إصدارات المركز؛ مما عزز وصول المحتوى العلمي والمعرفي إلى المهتمين بسهولة ويسر.
وبذلك لم يعد الأثر العلمي للمركز مقتصراً على الحضور المباشر، بل امتد رقمياً ليصل إلى مجتمع معرفي أوسع.
• دشّن أمير منطقة المدينة المنورة الأمير سلمان بن سلطان عدداً من المشاريع البحثية، هل يمكن إطلاعنا على طبيعة هذه المشاريع وأثرها العلمي؟
•• يحظى مركز بحوث ودراسات المدينة المنورة بمتابعة وتوجيه مستمرين من الأمير سلمان بن سلطان، وتم تدشين العديد من الكتب العلمية والموسوعات المتعلقة بالمدينة المنورة والمسجد النبوي ومن ذلك:
– كتاب الرحلات، وكتاب تاريخ المدينة المنورة، وكتاب التوثيق الفوتوغرافي للمسجد النبوي الشريف.
إصدارات علمية فريدة
• ماذا عن إصدارات المركز المطبوعة، وما الذي يميزها على مستوى التوثيق والتحقيق العلمي؟
•• تميّز المركز بإصدارات علمية متخصصة تربو على الـ50 إصداراً، ولهذه الإصدارات ميزة علمية فريدة كون بعضها يخرج لأول مرة كاملة على نسخ خطية نادرة، ومن ذلك: كتاب «التحفة اللطيفة في تاريخ المدينة الشريفة» للحافظ السخاوي، وهو في 10 مجلدات وحوى أكثر من 5000 ترجمة لأعلام سكنوا المدينة المنورة أو زاروها منذ العهد النبوي وحتى عصر المؤلف سنة 900هـ.
تعدد الآراء في القضايا التاريخية
• كيف يتعامل المركز -من منظور علمي ومنهجي- مع تعدد الآراء والاجتهادات البحثية في بعض القضايا التاريخية؟
•• يتبع مركز بحوث ودراسات المدينة منهجية علمية رصينة للتعامل مع تعدد الآراء في القضايا التاريخية، تعتمد في ذلك على توثيق المعلومة من المصادر الأصلية، دون تحيّز إلى رأي على آخر

أهمية توثيق التاريخ الديني
• ما أهمية توثيق التاريخ الديني والعلمي للمدينة المنورة في ظل تعدد الروايات والمصادر؟
•• تكمن أهمية ذلك في تجلية الحقائق وإبانتها بكل مصداقية وموضوعية، وفق منهجية علمية معتمدة، وكذلك رد ما يلحق بالجوانب العقدية والتعبدية والعلمية من تزييف، سواء كان متعمداً أو دون قصد.
• ما النصيحة التي توجهونها لطلبة العلم والباحثين في الدراسات الشرعية والتاريخية؟
•• أعظم ما يوصى به طلبة العلم هو تقوى الله عز وجل، في كل ما يدونونه من بحوث ودراسات، وأن يقدموا للناس العلم النافع المبني على الدليل الصحيح، وأن يحذروا من المرويات الموضوعة والمكذوبة التي لا تثبت.
• كيف ترون العلاقة بين البحث العلمي الرصين وخدمة الدين وترسيخ الوعي المجتمعي؟
•• العلاقة وطيدة بلا شك، ويتبين ذلك من أن مخرجات البحث العلمي الرصين المبني على المعلومة الموثقة والهادفة، هي إضافة معرفية سليمة سواء في الجوانب العقدية والشرعية، أو الجوانب المجتمعية، وبالتالي فهي تنعكس إيجاباً على متلقي هذه المعلومات، فيكون قد بني وأسس على أسس صحيحة لا زيف فيها ولا تحريف.
The General Director of the Madinah Research and Studies Center, Dr. Salah Al-Badair, emphasized the importance of documenting the history of the city of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as documentation comes from original sources and counters any distortions related to doctrinal, worship, and scientific aspects. In his dialogue with “Okaz,” he discussed the reasons for establishing the center and its details. Below is the text of the interview:
Cooperation with Research and Studies Centers
• When was the Madinah Research and Studies Center established, and what were the motivations that led to its creation?
•• The center was established as a non-profit charitable endowment according to the legal deed issued by the Grand Sharia Court in 1418 AH. The motivations for its establishment included gathering information about the history of Madinah from various documented ancient and modern sources, studying it, and presenting it to current and future generations through various means, establishing a specialized library, creating cooperative relationships with other research and studies centers, and publishing books, courses, and newsletters.
• Who is credited with founding the center, and who has managed it since its inception?
•• The founder of the endowment is Prince Abdul Majid bin Abdulaziz (may God have mercy on him) in 1418 AH. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, chaired the board of trustees of the Madinah Research and Studies Center during his tenure as Crown Prince in 1432 AH. The chairmanship of the board has been held by the princes of the Madinah region, namely: Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz from 1420 AH to 1426 AH, Prince Abdulaziz bin Majid bin Abdulaziz from 1426 AH to 1432 AH, Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz from 1436 AH to 1445 AH, and Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz in 1445 AH.
Workshops, Dictionaries, and Encyclopedias
• How many departments or sections currently operate under the center, and what are their main specialties?
•• The center has seven departments; among the most prominent is the Scientific Affairs Department, which specializes in conducting research and studies about Madinah from various aspects, performing scientific verification of manuscripts, preparing dictionaries and encyclopedias, and holding scientific workshops to verify historical information related to Madinah.
As for the documentation field, it focuses on documenting sources and information about Madinah, including studies, information, documents, maps, images, films, books, manuscripts, collectibles, academic theses, articles, oral narratives, and conducting field trips and visits for documentation, as well as documenting events from the Prophetic biography.
The service field is dedicated to serving researchers and visitors, as well as governmental and private entities, and media production institutions, concerning their goals and fields, and providing specialized scientific texts about the history of Madinah.
The informational field provides a specialized library about Madinah. The center also publishes a quarterly peer-reviewed journal that addresses issues related to Madinah in its past and present.
Significant Interest and Demand
• What is the level of interest from researchers and those interested in the center, and does it open its doors to visitors and researchers outside the academic framework?
•• The center enjoys significant interest from a large segment of those concerned with the history of Madinah. Given the center’s special attention to the history and civilization of Madinah, through its specialized library, the demand for the center is considerable, thank God. The center welcomes all segments of society and visitors, whether from within the academic framework or outside it.
• How has digital transformation contributed to the development of the center’s work and expanded the circle of benefit from its scientific content?
•• It has contributed to transforming scientific content from preserved and limited-access materials to organized content that is searchable and available to a broader audience from various countries and regions through specialized digital knowledge platforms; among the most prominent is the digital repository platform that includes research and journals published by the center.
The center’s online store has also provided a modern means for acquiring the center’s publications, enhancing the accessibility of scientific and knowledge content to interested individuals easily and conveniently.
Thus, the scientific impact of the center is no longer limited to direct attendance but has extended digitally to reach a broader knowledge community.
• Prince Salman bin Sultan, the Emir of the Madinah region, inaugurated several research projects. Can you inform us about the nature of these projects and their scientific impact?
•• The Madinah Research and Studies Center receives continuous follow-up and guidance from Prince Salman bin Sultan. Many scientific books and encyclopedias related to Madinah and the Prophet’s Mosque have been launched, including:
– The Book of Journeys, the Book of the History of Madinah, and the Book of Photographic Documentation of the Prophet’s Mosque.
Unique Scientific Publications
• What about the center’s printed publications, and what distinguishes them in terms of documentation and scientific verification?
•• The center is distinguished by its specialized scientific publications, which exceed 50 publications. These publications have a unique scientific feature as some are being published for the first time in complete form based on rare manuscript copies, including the book “The Elegant Gift in the History of the Noble City” by the historian Al-Sakhawi, which is in 10 volumes and contains over 5000 biographies of notable figures who lived in or visited Madinah from the Prophetic era until the time of the author in 900 AH.
Diversity of Opinions on Historical Issues
• How does the center, from a scientific and methodological perspective, deal with the diversity of opinions and research interpretations on some historical issues?
•• The Madinah Research and Studies Center follows a robust scientific methodology to address the diversity of opinions on historical issues, relying on documenting information from original sources without bias toward one opinion over another.
• What message does the center strive to convey to people around the world through its research and knowledge works?
•• Contributing to providing a renewed knowledge culture, enhancing national belonging, and fostering effective community partnership to serve the history and heritage of Madinah.

The Importance of Documenting Religious History
• What is the importance of documenting the religious and scientific history of Madinah in light of the diversity of narratives and sources?
•• Its importance lies in clarifying and presenting the truths with full credibility and objectivity, according to an approved scientific methodology, as well as countering any distortions that may affect doctrinal, worship, and scientific aspects, whether intentional or unintentional.
• What advice do you give to students of knowledge and researchers in Sharia and historical studies?
•• The greatest recommendation for students of knowledge is to fear God Almighty in all that they document in their research and studies, to provide people with beneficial knowledge based on sound evidence, and to beware of fabricated and false narratives that cannot be substantiated.
• How do you view the relationship between rigorous scientific research and serving religion and establishing societal awareness?
•• The relationship is undoubtedly strong, as evidenced by the fact that the outputs of rigorous scientific research based on documented and purposeful information are a sound knowledge addition, whether in doctrinal and Sharia aspects or societal aspects. Consequently, it positively reflects on the recipients of this information, as they are built and established on correct foundations without distortion or alteration.
