أنجز الشاعر المترجم غسان الخنيزي ترجمته ديوان الشاعر التشيلي بابلو نيرودا (فن الطيور) عن دار كلمات للنشر بالشارقة، وتعد ترجمة الخنيزي، منجزاً باعتبار فنّ الطيور من أبرز أعمال صاحب «أشهدُ أني قد عشت».
ويعود الديوان إلى عام 1966، ونُشر في موطنه تشيلي مصحوباً برسومات لفنانين بارزين، قبل أن يُدرج في الأعمال الكاملة، ويُترجم إلى لغات عدة. ويُنظر إليه نقدياً بوصفه محطة أسلوبية فارقة، تتراجع فيها النبرة الخطابية لصالح كتابة مكثفة تُصغي للطبيعة، ولم يتعامل نيرودا مع الطيور بوصفها موضوعاً زخرفياً أو استعارياً مباشراً، بل بوصفها كائنات لغوية وحسية، تتيح إعادة التفكير في العلاقة بين الإنسان والطبيعة، وبين اللغة والحركة والزمن.
ويتألف الديوان من 53 قصيدة موزعة على قسمين: الأول مكرّس لطيور حقيقية من البيئة التشيلية، والثاني يتجه نحو طيورٍ متخيلة، تُصاغ ضمن بنية لغزية تجعل من التسمية فعلاً شعرياً. وتتخلل الديوان ثلاث قصائد طوال تمنحه تماسكاً بنيوياً يجمع بين الجانبين: الوصفي والتأملي.
ويفتتح نيرودا الديوان بمشهد جماعي تتبدّى فيه هجرة الطيور بوصفها حركةً كونيةً صارمةً، تقودها غريزةٌ لا تعرف التردّد:
زاويةٌ من الطيور
باتجاه
خط عرضٍ، من حديدٍ وثلجٍ،
تتقدّم دونما هوادةٍ
في نهجها المستقيم:
استقامةٌ ساغبةٌ
كسهمٍ مصوَّبٍ،
لجموعٍ سماويةٍ تشق طريقها
للتكاثر، مجبولةً
بحبٍ وهندسةٍ قاهرين…
ويبتكر نيرودا طيوراً متخيّلة تُصاغ من الريش واللغة معاً، مثل «الطائر الهيروغليفي»:
متداخلٌ ريشه، ريشةً جنب أخرى،
يبسط جناحيه في ميادين العمل.
طائر المتاهة، طائر البر والبحر،
والألغاز…
يذكر أن الترجمة اعتمدت على ترجمة وسيطة بالإنجليزية مع الرجوع المنهجي إلى النص الإسباني الأصلي، بإشراف أستاذة اللغات الرومانسية وآداب أمريكا اللاتينية الدكتورة خديجة قضّوم التي يسّرت تدقيق الترجمة؛ لضمان مطابقة المعنى والاقتراب من الخصوصيات البيئية والثقافية للنص، خصوصاً ما يتعلّق بالأسماء المحلية والحمولات الدلالية المرتبطة بطيور تشيلي وإقليم باتاغونيا في أطراف أمريكا الجنوبية.
The translated poet Ghassan Al-Khneizi has completed his translation of the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda’s collection “The Art of Birds,” published by Kalimat Publishing House in Sharjah. Al-Khneizi’s translation is considered an achievement, as “The Art of Birds” is one of the most prominent works of the author of “I Confess That I Have Lived.”
The collection dates back to 1966 and was published in its homeland, Chile, accompanied by illustrations from prominent artists, before being included in the complete works and translated into several languages. It is critically viewed as a significant stylistic milestone, where the rhetorical tone recedes in favor of a concentrated writing that listens to nature. Neruda does not treat birds as decorative or directly metaphorical subjects, but as linguistic and sensory beings that allow for a rethinking of the relationship between humans and nature, and between language, movement, and time.
The collection consists of 53 poems divided into two sections: the first is dedicated to real birds from the Chilean environment, while the second turns towards imagined birds, crafted within a linguistic structure that makes naming a poetic act. The collection is interspersed with three long poems that provide it with a structural coherence that unites the descriptive and contemplative aspects.
Neruda opens the collection with a collective scene in which the migration of birds appears as a strict cosmic movement, driven by an instinct that knows no hesitation:
A flock of birds
Towards
A latitude, of iron and snow,
Advancing relentlessly
In its straight path:
A straightness that is flowing
Like an aimed arrow,
For celestial masses carving their way
To reproduce, molded
By a love and an overwhelming engineering…
Neruda invents imagined birds crafted from both feathers and language, such as the “Hieroglyphic Bird”:
Its feathers interwoven, one feather beside another,
Spreading its wings in the fields of work.
The labyrinth bird, the bird of land and sea,
And the enigmas…
It is worth noting that the translation relied on an intermediary English translation while systematically referring to the original Spanish text, under the supervision of Dr. Khadija Qaddoum, a professor of Romance languages and Latin American literature, who facilitated the proofreading of the translation to ensure the accuracy of meaning and to approach the environmental and cultural specifics of the text, especially concerning local names and the semantic loads associated with Chilean birds and the Patagonia region at the edges of South America.
