أعربت وزارة الخارجية عن إدانة المملكة العربية السعودية ورفضها بأشد العبارات الهجوم الإيراني الغاشم الذي استهدف مبنى سفارة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في مدينة الرياض.
وأكدت المملكة أن تكرار هذه الهجوم الجبان وغير المبرر يتعارض وبشكل صارخ مع جميع الأعراف والقوانين الدولية بما فيها اتفاقيتا جنيف 1949 وفيينا 1961 للعلاقات الدبلوماسية التي تمنح الحصانة للمباني الدبلوماسية وموظفيها حتى في حالات النزاع المسلح.
وشددت المملكة على أن تكرار هذا السلوك الإيراني السافر، الذي يأتي على الرغم من علم السلطات الإيرانية بأن المملكة أكدت أنها لن تسمح باستخدام أجوائها وأراضيها لاستهداف إيران، سيدفع المنطقة نحو مزيد من التصعيد.
وجددت المملكة تأكيدها على حقها الكامل باتخاذ الإجراءات والتدابير اللازمة كافة لحماية أمنها وسلامة أراضيها ومواطنيها والمقيمين فيها ومصالحها الحيوية، بما في ذلك خيار الرد على العدوان.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s condemnation and rejection in the strongest terms of the brutal Iranian attack that targeted the building of the United States Embassy in Riyadh.
The Kingdom confirmed that the recurrence of this cowardly and unjustified attack starkly contradicts all international norms and laws, including the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Vienna Convention of 1961 on diplomatic relations, which grant immunity to diplomatic buildings and their staff even in cases of armed conflict.
The Kingdom emphasized that the repetition of this blatant Iranian behavior, which comes despite the Iranian authorities’ awareness that the Kingdom has confirmed it will not allow its airspace and territory to be used to target Iran, will push the region towards further escalation.
The Kingdom reiterated its full right to take all necessary measures and actions to protect its security, the safety of its territory, its citizens, residents, and vital interests, including the option to respond to aggression.
