تعدّ الممرات البحرية في منطقة الخليج العربي من أكثر القضايا الشائكة والنقاط الحسّاسة في مجال السياسة الدولية، فالممرات البحرية بشكل عام ولاسيما تلك التي تربط مناطق عدة بالعالم تمثل شرايين التجارة العالمية، حيث تعدّ في غاية الأهمية ليس فقط لدول المنطقة التي تمر بها تلك الممرات البحرية، بل للاقتصاد العالمي ككل، ومن المؤكد أن مضيق هرمز والذي يمثل نقطة عبور إستراتيجية تربط الخليج العربي ببحر العرب والمحيط الهندي يمثل أهمية بالغة في مجال النقل الإستراتيجي.

وقد شهدت السنوات الأخيرة تصعيداً في الملف الأمني للمضيق تضمّنت حوادث استهدفت ناقلات النفط، كما تم بالفعل احتجاز عدد من السفن التجارية بطواقمها العاملة، مما أدّى لتصعيد إعلامي متبادل بين العديد من الدول المعنية بمجال النقل في المضيق، مما أعاد الجدل حيال مدى الأمن الذي تتمتع به المنطقة وممراتها المائية الإستراتيجية، وعلى الرغم من أن تلك الحوادث المتفرقة لم تؤدِ إلى مرحلة الإغلاق الشامل لتلك الممرات المائية، إلا أنها أثارت القلق والتوتر في غالبية الأسواق العالمية، مما كان له أكبر الأثر على رفع تكاليف التأمين والشحن، مما انعكس بالسلب على كافة الأطراف سواء المنتجة أو المستهلكة.

Moreover, threats to the security of maritime passages also reflect on the security of Gulf countries, which has brought this issue to the forefront of the most urgent and pressing matters needing resolution at this time.

From this standpoint, containing the crisis through diplomatic channels and political dialogue becomes an indispensable strategic option, not only to spare the region the risks of military confrontation but also to maintain the stability of global trade and ensure freedom of navigation through this vital artery upon which the international economy relies.
