رأس مالنا الحقيقي ليس النفط ولا المباني، ولا الأساطيل الممتدة على مدارج المطارات.. إنه الانسان.

إعداد الكوادر الوطنية المؤهلة في القطاعات كافة هو أساس الأمان للمستقبل؛ لأن الأوطان لا تنهض إلا بسواعد أبنائها، ولا تتقدّم إلا حين يتحوّل الطموح الفردي إلى مشروع جماعي، وحين يصبح التمكين سياسة لا شعاراً.

قطاع الطيران واحد من أهم محركات النمو عبر التاريخ الحديث، لم يكن وسيلة نقل، كان أداة تشكيل الجغرافيا الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للدول، فهو يختصر المسافات ويختصر الزمن التنموي كذلك، ومن يتتبع تاريخ الطيران السعودي يدرك أن «الخطوط السعودية» أدّت دوراً تأسيسياً للمساهمة في بناء مفهوم الدولة الحديثة المترابطة.

إدارة وتشغيل شبكة نقل داخلي واسعة في بلد مترامي الأطراف كانت فعلاً تنموياً بامتياز، وتوطين الوظائف في قطاع صناعي تقني شكّل خطوة مبكرة في زمن لم يكن الحديث فيه عن «المحتوى المحلي» موجوداً كما هو اليوم.

اللافت في هذه المسيرة هو البدايات المبكرة لفكرة الاستثمار في الإنسان، حيث ابتُعثت أول دفعة لدراسة صيانة الهياكل والمحركات لمدة 15 شهراً في ولاية كاليفورنيا عام 1384هـ، أي قبل أكثر من ستة عقود، كانت قراءة واعية لمستقبل الصناعة، وكان واضحاً أن مفهوم الطيران لدى «السعودية» هو المعرفة بالتفاصيل التي تحيط بالصناعة ككل، وتحقّق السلامة والاستدامة.

قبل ذلك بسنوات، في عام 1378هـ، كان هناك توجّه للتدريب المتخصص في مجال الطيران، في وقتٍ كانت فيه المنطقة بأكملها لا تزال ناشئة، وسبقه أول برنامج تدريب في مجال التسويق والمبيعات عام 1964م، والتحق به أكثر من أربعين طالباً، في إشارة مبكرة إلى أن الطيران قيادة وعمليات وصيانة وإدارة علاقات وسوق وصورة ذهنية في آنٍ واحد.

يروي الأستاذ حمزة الدباغ، رحمه الله، في كتابه المميّز «من الجمل إلى الطائرة» أنه عندما عُهد إليه إنشاء إدارة عامة للتدريب في أوائل الستينيات الميلادية، قام بجولة على مؤسسات النقل الجوي في أوروبا وأمريكا، في بحث جاد عن أفضل الممارسات لتنمية القوى العاملة، اطلع والوفد الذي رافقه على أرقى مراكز التدريب، وتعرّفوا على نظريات وأساليب، ثم بُني على ذلك برنامج ابتعاث للطيارين والفنيين وموظفي المبيعات والتسويق، وغيرهم من التخصصات المرتبطة بقطاع الطيران، هذه الخطوة تكشف وعياً مبكراً بأن بناء المؤسسة يبدأ من بناء العقل الذي يديرها، وأن الاستقلال الحقيقي في أي صناعة يمر عبر المعرفة قبل المنشآت.

مطلع هذا الأسبوع، سعدتُ بحضور حفل تخرّج أكبر دفعة متدربين في تاريخ الخطوط الجوية العربية السعودية، التي تجاوز عددها 1,000 خريج وخريجة من بنات وشباب الوطن في تخصصات متعددة؛ من مساعدي طيارين ومضيفين وفنيي صيانة وطهاة جويين وغيرهم. بدا المشهد امتداداً طبيعياً لتلك البذور الأولى.

لم تكن مناسبة احتفالية بقدر ما كانت لحظة إنسانية مكثّفة، عائلات ترى أبناءها وبناتها يخرجون إلى درجات المسؤولية، وقطاع يشهد دخول دماء جديدة تحمل طموح جيل مختلف.

حضور وزير النقل وعدد كبير من منسوبي القطاع أضفى على المناسبة بعداً وطنياً، غير أن القيمة الأعمق تجلّت في تلك اللحظات بين الآباء والأمهات وأبنائهم، حيث اختلطت الدموع بالفخر.

الحديث عن هذه المسيرة ليس خطاب تمجيد، فأي مؤسسة وطنية مهما كان تاريخها، تبقى في حاجة إلى النقد والتطوير، لكن الإنصاف يقتضي الاعتراف بأن الاستثمار المبكر في التدريب والابتعاث وبناء إدارات متخصصة كان ركيزة أساسية في تشكيل قطاع طيران وطني قادر على التكيّف مع التغيّرات الكبرى، والتحدّي اليوم يتمثّل في تحديث البرامج باستمرار، وربطها بالتقنيات الجديدة ومتطلبات الاستدامة، وفهم التحولات في أنماط السفر والاقتصاد العالمي، حتى تظل الكفاءة الوطنية قادرة على المنافسة في بيئة تتغير بوتيرة غير مسبوقة.

في النهاية، القصة ليست قصة شركة، إنما قصة فكرة أن رأس المال الحقيقي هو الإنسان؛ لذلك حين نقرأ تاريخ أي قطاع وطني، نبحث عن اللحظات التي اختار فيها أن يستثمر في العقول قبل الآلات، تلك اللحظات هي التي تصنع الفارق على المدى الطويل.

الطائرات يمكن أن تُشترى، والمباني يمكن أن تُشيّد، لكن الكفاءة تحتاج وقتاً وصبراً، وإيماناً عميقاً بأن المستقبل يُبنى في قاعات التدريب كما يُبنى في ساحات العمل.

Preparing qualified national cadres in all sectors is the foundation of security for the future; because nations can only rise through the efforts of their children, and they only progress when individual ambition transforms into a collective project, and when empowerment becomes a policy rather than a slogan.

The aviation sector is one of the most important engines of growth throughout modern history; it was not just a means of transportation, but a tool for shaping the economic and social geography of countries. It shortens distances and also compresses developmental time. Those who trace the history of Saudi aviation realize that “Saudi Airlines” played a foundational role in contributing to the establishment of the modern interconnected state concept.

Managing and operating a vast internal transport network in a sprawling country was indeed an exceptional developmental act, and localizing jobs in a technical industrial sector was an early step at a time when the talk of “local content” was not as prevalent as it is today.

What stands out in this journey is the early beginnings of the idea of investing in people, as the first batch was sent to study aircraft structures and engines for 15 months in California in 1384 AH, which is more than six decades ago. It was a conscious reading of the future of the industry, and it was clear that the concept of aviation at “Saudi Airlines” was knowledge of the details surrounding the industry as a whole, ensuring safety and sustainability.

Years earlier, in 1378 AH, there was a trend towards specialized training in aviation, at a time when the entire region was still emerging. This was preceded by the first training program in marketing and sales in 1964, which enrolled more than forty students, an early indication that aviation encompasses leadership, operations, maintenance, relationship management, market dynamics, and mental image all at once.

The late Professor Hamza Al-Dabbagh recounts in his distinguished book “From Camels to Airplanes” that when he was tasked with establishing a general training department in the early 1960s, he toured air transport institutions in Europe and America, in a serious search for best practices to develop the workforce. He and the accompanying delegation visited the finest training centers and learned about theories and methods, which then laid the foundation for a scholarship program for pilots, technicians, sales and marketing staff, and other specialties related to the aviation sector. This step reveals an early awareness that building the institution begins with building the mind that manages it, and that true independence in any industry passes through knowledge before facilities.

At the beginning of this week, I was pleased to attend the graduation ceremony of the largest batch of trainees in the history of Saudi Arabian Airlines, which exceeded 1,000 graduates from the sons and daughters of the nation in various specialties; including pilot assistants, cabin crew, maintenance technicians, inflight chefs, and others. The scene seemed a natural extension of those initial seeds.

It was not merely a celebratory occasion, but rather an intense human moment, with families witnessing their sons and daughters stepping into positions of responsibility, and a sector witnessing the entry of new blood carrying the ambitions of a different generation.

The presence of the Minister of Transport and a large number of sector employees added a national dimension to the occasion, but the deeper value was manifested in those moments between parents and their children, where tears mixed with pride.

Talking about this journey is not a glorification speech; any national institution, regardless of its history, remains in need of criticism and development. However, fairness requires acknowledging that early investment in training, scholarships, and building specialized departments was a fundamental pillar in forming a national aviation sector capable of adapting to major changes. The challenge today lies in continuously updating programs, linking them to new technologies and sustainability requirements, and understanding transformations in travel patterns and the global economy, so that national efficiency remains competitive in an environment changing at an unprecedented pace.

In the end, the story is not about a company, but about the idea that true capital is human; therefore, when we read the history of any national sector, we look for the moments when it chose to invest in minds before machines. Those moments are what make the long-term difference.

Airplanes can be bought, and buildings can be constructed, but efficiency takes time, patience, and a deep belief that the future is built in training halls just as it is built in workplaces.
