نفى وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي وجود اتصالات جديدة مع المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف، وذلك بعد تقرير نشره موقع «أكسيوس» بشأن تفعيل قناة اتصال بينهما.
وقال عراقجي، في منشور على منصة «إكس»، إن أي ادعاء بوجود اتصالات جديدة مع ويتكوف يهدف فقط إلى تضليل متعاملي النفط والرأي العام، موضحاً أن آخر اتصال له بالمبعوث الأمريكي كان قبل قرار شن هجوم عسكري على إيران.
وكان موقع «أكسيوس» ذكر أن مسؤولاً أمريكياً ومصدراً مطلعاً كشفا معاودة تفعيل قناة اتصال مباشرة بين المبعوث الأمريكي ستيف ويتكوف ووزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي في الأيام القليلة الماضية، مبينين أن عراقجي أرسل رسائل نصية إلى ويتكوف ركزت على إنهاء الحرب.
وأشار الموقع إلى أنه ليس من الواضح مدى جوهرية الرسائل المتبادلة بين عراقجي وويتكوف، لكنها تُعد أول تواصل مباشر معروف بين الطرفين منذ اندلاع الحرب قبل أكثر من أسبوعين.
وفي وقت سابق، قال الرئيس الإيراني مسعود بزشكيان إن الحديث عن إنهاء الحرب لا معنى له، ما لم تضمن بلاده عدم شن مزيد من الهجمات على أرضها، موضحاً أنه أبلغ الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون في اتصال هاتفي بأن إيران لم تبدأ هذه الحرب.
لكن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب قال في مؤتمر صحفي سابق إنه يعتقد أن إيران ترغب في التوصل إلى اتفاق لإنهاء الحرب، لكنه يعتقد أنه من غير الواضح من يتحدث باسمها، مضيفاً: «لا نعرف قادتها».
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied the existence of new communications with the American envoy Steve Wietkoff, following a report published by Axios regarding the activation of a communication channel between them.
Araqchi stated in a post on the platform “X” that any claim of new communications with Wietkoff is aimed solely at misleading oil traders and public opinion, clarifying that his last contact with the American envoy was before the decision to launch a military attack on Iran.
Axios reported that an American official and an informed source revealed the resumption of a direct communication channel between the American envoy Steve Wietkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in the past few days, indicating that Araqchi sent text messages to Wietkoff focusing on ending the war.
The site noted that it is unclear how substantive the exchanged messages between Araqchi and Wietkoff are, but they represent the first known direct communication between the two sides since the outbreak of the war more than two weeks ago.
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian stated that talking about ending the war is meaningless unless his country is assured that no further attacks will be launched on its territory, explaining that he informed French President Emmanuel Macron in a phone call that Iran did not start this war.
However, American President Donald Trump said in a previous press conference that he believes Iran wants to reach an agreement to end the war, but he thinks it is unclear who is speaking on its behalf, adding: “We don’t know its leaders.”
