In a serious development that reignites the debate over former Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, new documents and reports have revealed that the former Duke of York used his influence to facilitate the landing of Epstein’s private plane at British Royal Air Force bases, which are highly secure military facilities protected by strict security measures.
According to a report published by the Sunday Telegraph, recently uncovered emails from the U.S. Department of Justice show that Epstein himself admitted that Andrew, who had his royal titles stripped in 2022 and was gradually removed from public life, “arranged” for him to use British military bases for his private flights on the plane famously known as the “Lolita Express.”
These flights planned by Andrew were considered an “unusual” use of British military facilities by a private civilian aircraft belonging to a foreign businessman who was later convicted of sex trafficking minors.
Calls for a New Criminal Investigation
For his part, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has called in official letters sent to several British police forces, including the Metropolitan Police, for an immediate criminal investigation to determine whether Andrew used taxpayer-funded aircraft and British Royal Air Force bases during his tenure as a trade envoy for the United Kingdom (2001–2011) to arrange meetings with Epstein, who was considered a close friend at the time.
These new allegations came in the context of the release of additional “Epstein files” by the U.S. Department of Justice, which included correspondence and documents revealing deeper details about the network of relationships that connected Epstein with politicians, businessmen, and public figures.
Ongoing Crises for Andrew
Prince Andrew, who stepped down from his official duties in 2019 following a disastrous interview with the BBC, paid a substantial financial settlement in 2022 to end a civil lawsuit brought against him by Virginia Giuffre, who later committed suicide in 2025, without admitting any criminal liability.
