مساء الثلاثاء الماضي، بثّت وسائل الإعلام المختلفة تصريحاً لمصدر مسؤول مفاده: «أكد مسؤول سعودي رفيع في وزارة الخارجية السعودية، أن بلاده سبق أن نفت المزاعم التي تحدثت عن تفضيل القيادة السعودية إطالة أمد الحرب الجارية بين إيران من جهة، والولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل من جهة أخرى». وربما نستنتج، أن هذا التأكيد الجديد يأتي رداً على الأخبار المزيفة التي تنشرها بعض وسائل الإعلام الأجنبية، ومنها صحف ومحطات أمريكية دأبت على اختلاق معلومات غير صحيحة وفبركتها في أخبار لا يمكن أن يصدقها من يعرف جيداً سياسة المملكة، ولكن في مثل هذا الوضع المتأزم الذي تمر به المنطقة يبدو أن المسؤول السعودي الذي أدلى بالتصريح يهدف إلى تأكيد المؤكد، وكشف الأخبار المغلوطة المتكررة. وقد استرجع بعض المغردين السعوديين، بالتزامن مع التصريح، تغريدة قديمة لسمو وزير الخارجية يشير فيها إلى صحيفة أمريكية شهيرة وموقفها غير الجيد آنذاك من سمو ولي العهد الأمير محمد بن سلمان بتزييف بعض الأخبار عن المملكة. وإن كان ذلك قد حدث في الماضي، فإنه ما زالت بعض الصحف، مثلها وغيرها، لأجندات خاصة بها، تحاول إثارة اللغط تجاه مواقف المملكة حيال قضايا مختلفة.
مثل هذه المزاعم بأن المملكة تفضل إطالة أمد الحرب لا يمكن أن يستوعبها عقل سوي وإدراك سليم. كيف يمكن أن تفضل دولة خيار الحرب وهي التي بذلت جهوداً ومساعي دبلوماسية كثيفة ومتواصلة لمنعها. وكيف يستوي ذلك وهي قد أكدت قبل بدئها أنها لن تشارك فيها، ولن تسمح باستخدام أراضيها وأجوائها للهجوم على إيران، وحتى بعد أن كانت المستهدفة الأولى مع بقية الدول الخليجية بصواريخ ومسيرات إيران.
وبعد نشوب الحرب، كانت الرياض عاصمة حراك عربي وإسلامي ودولي لإيجاد وسائل تكفل خفض التصعيد، وطرح تصورات لإنهاء الحرب، اجتماعات واتصالات متوالية لإنهاء الوضع، من منطلق سياساتها الثابتة بأنها دولة تسعى لتكريس السلم والأمن والاستقرار للمنطقة والعالم، رغم سوء الجار الإيراني ونكثه بالاتفاقيات، وعدوانه الهمجي علينا.
الحرب بغيضة بكل المقاييس، وها نحن نرى آثارها السيئة على الخليج والمنطقة والعالم، لكننا لا نستطيع التعايش مع نظام يصر أن يكون مصدر تهديد دائم لنا، ولا يمكن الوقوف طويلاً كمتفرجين على عدو يستهدفنا، فلصبر المملكة حدود، كما أكد المسؤول في وزارة الخارجية.
Last Tuesday evening, various media outlets broadcast a statement from a responsible source stating: “A senior Saudi official in the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that his country had previously denied the claims that the Saudi leadership preferred to prolong the ongoing war between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.” We can infer that this new confirmation comes in response to the fake news disseminated by some foreign media, including American newspapers and channels that have been fabricating incorrect information and distorting it in news that cannot be believed by those who are well-acquainted with the Kingdom’s policies. However, in such a tense situation that the region is going through, it seems that the Saudi official who made the statement aims to reaffirm the obvious and expose the repeated misleading news. Some Saudi Twitter users, coinciding with the statement, recalled an old tweet from His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs referring to a famous American newspaper and its poor stance at that time towards His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman by distorting some news about the Kingdom. Even though this happened in the past, some newspapers, like it and others, with their own agendas, continue to stir controversy regarding the Kingdom’s positions on various issues.
Such allegations that the Kingdom prefers to prolong the war cannot be comprehended by a sound mind and clear understanding. How can a country prefer the option of war when it has made extensive and continuous diplomatic efforts to prevent it? How can this be reconciled when it has confirmed before the war began that it would not participate in it and would not allow the use of its territory and airspace to attack Iran, even after being the primary target along with other Gulf countries from Iranian missiles and drones?
After the war broke out, Riyadh became the capital of Arab, Islamic, and international efforts to find means to ensure de-escalation and propose visions to end the war, with continuous meetings and communications aimed at resolving the situation, based on its steadfast policies as a country that seeks to establish peace, security, and stability for the region and the world, despite the Iranian neighbor’s malice, its violation of agreements, and its barbaric aggression against us.
War is abhorrent by all measures, and we see its negative effects on the Gulf, the region, and the world. However, we cannot coexist with a regime that insists on being a constant source of threat to us, and we cannot remain long as spectators to an enemy that targets us. The Kingdom’s patience has its limits, as confirmed by the official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
