تحولت لحظات إهمال قاتلة داخل منزل عائلي بولاية أركنساس الأمريكية إلى فاجعة إنسانية صادمة، بعدما لقي رضيع يبلغ من العمر 11 شهراً مصرعه غرقاً في حوض الاستحمام، فيما وُجهت لوالده اتهامات جنائية خطيرة. وأعلنت السلطات الأمريكية إلقاء القبض على الأب جيمس داوسون (31 عاماً)، من بلدة ليبانتو، واتهامه بالقتل غير العمد وتعريض سلامة قاصر للخطر، عقب التحقيق في ملابسات الحادثة التي وقعت أثناء وجوده بمفرده في المنزل مع أطفاله.
ووفق إفادة رسمية، أقرّ داوسون بأنه قام بتجهيز حمام دافئ لطفله الرضيع، ثم غادر الحمام متجهاً إلى المطبخ بعد اندلاع مشادة بين طفليه الآخرين بسبب رفضهما تناول الطعام.
غير أن المشهد المأساوي لم يتكشف إلا بعد مرور وقت، إذ جلس الأب لتناول الطعام، ناسياً (بحسب التحقيقات) وجود الرضيع داخل حوض الاستحمام والمياه لا تزال جارية.
ومع عودة الأم إلى المنزل، لاحظت صوت المياه المتدفقة من الحمام، لتواجه زوجها بالأمر. وسرعان ما اندفع الزوجان نحو الحمام ليجدا الطفل مقلوب الوجه داخل الحوض، فاقداً للوعي.
حاول الأب إنعاش الرضيع، فيما سارعت الأم بالاتصال بخدمات الطوارئ، ليُنقل الطفل إلى المستشفى في حالة حرجة، إلا أن محاولات إنقاذه باءت بالفشل، وأُعلن عن وفاته لاحقاً.
وبحسب مذكرة التوقيف الصادرة عن الشرطة، يواجه داوسون تهمتين من الدرجة الأولى هما: القتل غير العمد، وتعريض سلامة قاصر للخطر.
وأكدت وثائق رسمية أن فرق الطوارئ استُدعيت إلى المنزل عقب بلاغ عن رضيع فاقد للوعي، لتبدأ التحقيقات التي انتهت بتوقيف الأب وإحالته للقضاء.
وولّدت الحادثة صدمة واسعة في المجتمع المحلي، وأعادت فتح النقاش حول مخاطر الإهمال الأسري، وضرورة عدم ترك الأطفال الرضع دون مراقبة ولو لدقائق، فدقائق معدودة قد تكون الفارق بين الحياة والموت.

U.S. authorities announced the arrest of the father, James Dawson (31 years old), from the town of Lepanto, and charged him with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a minor, following an investigation into the circumstances of the incident that occurred while he was alone at home with his children.
According to an official statement, Dawson admitted that he prepared a warm bath for his infant, then left the bathroom to head to the kitchen after a dispute broke out between his other children over their refusal to eat.
However, the tragic scene did not unfold until some time later, as the father sat down to eat, forgetting (according to the investigations) that the infant was still in the bathtub with the water still running.
When the mother returned home, she noticed the sound of running water from the bathroom and confronted her husband about it. The couple quickly rushed to the bathroom to find the child face down in the tub, unconscious.
The father attempted to revive the infant, while the mother hurried to call emergency services, and the child was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but attempts to save him failed, and he was later pronounced dead.
According to the arrest warrant issued by the police, Dawson faces two first-degree charges: involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Official documents confirmed that emergency teams were called to the home following a report of an unconscious infant, leading to investigations that resulted in the father’s arrest and referral to the judiciary.
