أعلن الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون، الثلاثاء، إرسال حاملة الطائرات شارل ديغول ومجموعتها القتالية إلى شرق البحر المتوسط، في خطوة تعكس دخول باريس على خط التصعيد المتسارع في الشرق الأوسط، تحت عنوان حماية المصالح الفرنسية والأوروبية ومراقبة التطورات الميدانية عن كثب.
وفي خطاب متلفز، انتقد ماكرون العمليات العسكرية التي تنفذها الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل، واصفًا إياها بأنها تجري خارج إطار القانون الدولي، ومؤكدًا أن بلاده لا يمكن أن تتغاضى عن ذلك. لكنه حمّل في الوقت ذاته إيران المسؤولية الأساسية عن حالة الاحتقان التي تعيشها المنطقة.
وأوضح أن قرار تحريك حاملة الطائرات جاء في ظل «وضع غير مستقر» يكتنفه كثير من الغموض بشأن الأيام القادمة، مشيرًا إلى أن الانتشار البحري يهدف إلى تعزيز الجاهزية والردع في آن واحد.
وكشف الرئيس الفرنسي عن إجراءات موازية تشمل إرسال أنظمة دفاعية إلى قبرص، ونشر مقاتلات رافال، إلى جانب أنظمة دفاع جوي ورادارات متطورة، مع تعهد بمواصلة تعزيز القدرات الدفاعية الفرنسية في المنطقة. كما أعلن عزم بلاده العمل على تشكيل تحالف دولي لإعادة فتح وتأمين طرق الملاحة.
التحرك الفرنسي يضع باريس في موقع أكثر انخراطًا في معادلة التوتر الإقليمي، وسط سباق عسكري ودبلوماسي مفتوح على احتمالات متعددة.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday the deployment of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its strike group to the eastern Mediterranean, in a move that reflects Paris’s entry into the escalating tensions in the Middle East, under the banner of protecting French and European interests and closely monitoring the developments on the ground.
In a televised speech, Macron criticized the military operations carried out by the United States and Israel, describing them as occurring outside the framework of international law, and emphasizing that his country cannot overlook this. However, he simultaneously held Iran primarily responsible for the state of tension in the region.
He explained that the decision to move the aircraft carrier came amid an “unstable situation” shrouded in much uncertainty regarding the coming days, noting that the naval deployment aims to enhance readiness and deterrence simultaneously.
The French president revealed parallel measures that include sending defensive systems to Cyprus, deploying Rafale fighters, alongside advanced air defense systems and radars, with a commitment to continue strengthening French defensive capabilities in the region. He also announced his country’s intention to work on forming an international coalition to reopen and secure shipping routes.
The French move places Paris in a more engaged position in the equation of regional tension, amid an open military and diplomatic race with multiple possibilities.
