أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية (البنتاغون) أن الحملة العسكرية التي تقودها الولايات المتحدة ضد إيران تحقق تقدماً ثابتاً، مؤكدة تدمير عدد كبير من القدرات البحرية الإيرانية واستهداف آلاف المواقع العسكرية داخل البلاد.
وقال رئيس هيئة الأركان المشتركة الأمريكية الجنرال دان كين، خلال مؤتمر صحفي في البنتاغون الأربعاء، إن القيادة المركزية الأمريكية تواصل تحقيق تقدم في العمليات الجارية، مشيراً إلى أن القوات الأمريكية نجحت حتى الآن في تدمير أكثر من 20 سفينة بحرية إيرانية وغواصة واحدة، إضافة إلى تحييد الجزء الأكبر من الوجود البحري الإيراني في مسرح العمليات.
من جانبه، أعلن وزير الدفاع الأمريكي بيت هيغسيث أن غواصة أمريكية أغرقت سفينة حربية إيرانية في المحيط الهندي باستخدام طوربيد، في عملية وصفها بأنها «ضربة صامتة»، موضحاً أن السفينة كانت تعتقد أنها آمنة في المياه الدولية.
وأضاف هيغسيث أن هذه الحادثة تمثل أول مرة منذ عام 1945 تستخدم فيها غواصة تابعة للبحرية الأمريكية طوربيداً لإغراق سفينة حربية.
وأكد الوزير أن العملية العسكرية لا تزال في مراحلها الأولى، مشيراً إلى أن «المؤشرات تتغير والعمليات تتوسع مع وصول مزيد من القوات»، وأن الولايات المتحدة قادرة على مواصلة القتال طالما اقتضت الحاجة.
وقال:«ما زلنا في بداية الطريق لم نبدأ بعد»، وكما قال الرئيس دونالد ترمب، سنأخذ الوقت اللازم لضمان تحقيق النجاح”.
وأبرز هيغسيث التفوق الأمريكي قائلاً: «فقط الولايات المتحدة قادرة على قيادة هذا، ونحن فقط»، قائلاً «إيران انتهت وهم يعرفون ذلك أو سيعرفون قريباً».
وأوضح أن القوات الأمريكية بدأت بالفعل حملة واسعة تستهدف تفكيك القدرات العسكرية الإيرانية وإضعافها وتدميرها، مؤكداً أن الأيام الأولى من القتال ليست سوى بداية المواجهة.
وأشار المسؤولون العسكريون إلى أن الضربات الأمريكية طالت حتى الآن أكثر من 2000 هدف داخل إيران، شملت مراكز القيادة والسيطرة، ومواقع الصواريخ الباليستية، وسفن وغواصات تابعة للبحرية الإيرانية، إضافة إلى مقار الحرس الثوري.
وفيما يتعلق بالخسائر الأمريكية، أفاد مسؤول أمريكي بأن ستة جنود أمريكيين قتلوا وأصيب عشرة آخرون بجروح خطيرة منذ بدء العمليات، وأعلن الجنرال كين رسمياً أسماء أربعة من القتلى، فيما تم حجب أسماء الآخرين مؤقتاً إلى حين إبلاغ عائلاتهم.
وأوضح أن أهداف الحملة العسكرية تتركز على تدمير منظومات الصواريخ الباليستية الإيرانية، وتحييد البحرية الإيرانية، ومنع طهران من إعادة بناء قدراتها القتالية بسرعة.
من جهته، أشار وكيل وزارة الدفاع للسياسات إلبريدج كولبي خلال جلسة استماع في لجنة القوات المسلحة بمجلس الشيوخ الثلاثاء، إلى أن إيران كانت تعمل على تعزيز قدراتها من الصواريخ والطائرات المسيرة الهجومية بسرعة، لكنه لم يقدم سبباً محدداً للأمر الذي أصدره الرئيس دونالد ترمب لبدء العملية العسكرية نهاية الأسبوع الماضي.
وأكدت وزارة الدفاع أن العمليات قد تستمر لعدة أسابيع، مشددة على أن وتيرة الحرب وحدودها ستتحدد وفق الأهداف التي حددها الرئيس الأمريكي.
The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that the military campaign led by the United States against Iran is making steady progress, confirming the destruction of a significant number of Iranian naval capabilities and targeting thousands of military sites within the country.
U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Keen stated during a press conference at the Pentagon on Wednesday that U.S. Central Command continues to make progress in ongoing operations, noting that U.S. forces have successfully destroyed more than 20 Iranian naval vessels and one submarine so far, in addition to neutralizing the majority of the Iranian naval presence in the operational theater.
For his part, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that an American submarine sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean using a torpedo, in an operation he described as a “silent strike,” explaining that the ship believed it was safe in international waters.
Hegseth added that this incident marks the first time since 1945 that a U.S. Navy submarine has used a torpedo to sink a warship.
The Secretary confirmed that the military operation is still in its early stages, pointing out that “indicators are changing and operations are expanding with the arrival of more forces,” and that the United States is capable of continuing to fight as long as necessary.
He said, “We are still at the beginning of the road; we have not started yet,” and as President Donald Trump said, “We will take the necessary time to ensure success.”
Hegseth highlighted American superiority, stating, “Only the United States is capable of leading this, and we alone,” adding, “Iran is finished, and they know it or will know soon.”
He explained that U.S. forces have already begun a wide campaign aimed at dismantling, weakening, and destroying Iranian military capabilities, emphasizing that the early days of fighting are just the beginning of the confrontation.
Military officials indicated that U.S. strikes have so far targeted more than 2,000 sites within Iran, including command and control centers, ballistic missile sites, Iranian naval ships and submarines, in addition to Revolutionary Guard headquarters.
Regarding American casualties, an American official reported that six U.S. soldiers have been killed and ten others seriously injured since the operations began, with General Keen officially announcing the names of four of the deceased, while the names of the others have been temporarily withheld until their families are notified.
He clarified that the goals of the military campaign focus on destroying Iranian ballistic missile systems, neutralizing the Iranian navy, and preventing Tehran from rapidly rebuilding its combat capabilities.
For his part, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby noted during a hearing in the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday that Iran had been working to rapidly enhance its capabilities in offensive missiles and drones, but he did not provide a specific reason for the order issued by President Donald Trump to initiate the military operation last weekend.
The Department of Defense confirmed that the operations may continue for several weeks, stressing that the pace and limits of the war will be determined according to the objectives set by the American president.
