نشرت مجلة «الإيكونوميست» مقالاً افتتاحياً مهمّاً بعد أيام قليلة من بدء الحرب الأمريكية الإسرائيلية على إيران، عنوانه «حرب بلا إستراتيجية»، تطرقت فيه إلى التداعيات السلبية الخطيرة المحتملة من استمرار الحرب التي ليس لها هدف سياسي واضح ومحدد رغم ما يتم إعلانه من انتصار عسكري. وأشارت إلى أن المشكلة ليست في القدرة على التدمير، بل في غموض الهدف الأمريكي، وأن استمرار حرب بلا إستراتيجية ودون هدف واضح ومحدد أمرٌ يُنذر بجر المنطقة إلى فوضى، ويهدّد اقتصاد العالم بمخاطر جسيمة، وخلص المقال إلى مطالبة الرئيس ترمب بالتوقف قريباً، وتضييق الهدف إلى «إضعاف القدرات ثم التوقف».
هذه القراءة لطبيعة الحرب القائمة، حتى وإن كانت مبكرة، تتّسم بقدر معقول من التحليل المنطقي، إذ إنه حتى الآن وبعد مشارفة الحرب على أسبوعين من اندلاعها، إلا أن الغموض ما زال يحيط بأهدافها وإطارها الزمني، رغم النتائج الفادحة التي تسبّبت فيها، وانعكست على أمن دول المنطقة واقتصاد العالم خلال أيام قليلة.
ما نشاهده منذ بداية الحرب تصريحات شبه يومية للرئيس ترمب، يعلن فيها عن انتصارات عسكرية، ويهدّد بمزيد من قوة الهجوم والتدمير للقدرات العسكرية الإيرانية، بينما إيران تشعل محيطها بالصواريخ والمسيّرات، وتتحدى الرئيس ترمب بأنها لن تستسلم أو تتوقف عن الرد، رغم أن الرد الذي نراه إلى الآن نتيجته الإضرار بدول الجوار لا أكثر. وفي الجانب الآخر بدأت الأزمة في إمدادات الطاقة العالمية تتفاقم مع التهديد بإغلاق مضيق هرمز وتأثر الممرات الأخرى نتيجة الوضع المتأزم وغياب الرؤية وضبابية التوقعات.
ما قالته مجلة الإيكونوميست يتفق كثيراً مع المنطق، إذ لا يمكن لحرب كبرى كالتي نشهدها أن تكون مفتوحة بلا هدف محدد يمكن إنجازه، لا سيما وخطرها يزداد كل يوم على المنطقة والعالم. صحيح أن النظام الإيراني سيئ، والكل يريد إيران أخرى تنخرط في المجتمع الدولي وفق قوانينه وأنظمته وتشريعاته، ولكن تحويل المنطقة إلى ساحة حرب بلا نهاية، وتعريضها لاحتمالات قد تكون أخطر من الاحتمالات التي أشعلت فتيل الحرب، قضية لا بد أن يتفهم الرئيس ترمب وجهة نظر العالم تجاهها.
The magazine “The Economist” published an important editorial a few days after the start of the American-Israeli war on Iran, titled “A War Without Strategy,” in which it addressed the potentially serious negative repercussions of continuing a war that lacks a clear and defined political objective despite the announced military victories. It pointed out that the problem is not the ability to destroy, but the ambiguity of the American goal, and that continuing a war without strategy and without a clear and defined objective threatens to drag the region into chaos and poses serious risks to the world economy. The article concluded by urging President Trump to cease operations soon and narrow the objective to “weakening capabilities and then stopping.”
This reading of the nature of the ongoing war, even if early, is characterized by a reasonable amount of logical analysis. Even now, after nearly two weeks since the outbreak of the war, the ambiguity surrounding its objectives and timeline remains, despite the devastating results it has caused, which have reflected on the security of the countries in the region and the world economy within a few days.
What we have been witnessing since the beginning of the war are almost daily statements from President Trump announcing military victories and threatening further attacks and destruction of Iranian military capabilities, while Iran ignites its surroundings with missiles and drones, challenging President Trump that it will not surrender or stop responding, even though the response we have seen so far has primarily harmed neighboring countries. On the other hand, the crisis in global energy supplies has begun to worsen with the threat of closing the Strait of Hormuz and the impact on other corridors due to the escalating situation and the lack of vision and clarity in expectations.
What The Economist stated aligns closely with logic, as a major war like the one we are witnessing cannot be open-ended without a specific goal that can be achieved, especially as its danger increases every day for the region and the world. It is true that the Iranian regime is bad, and everyone wants a different Iran that engages with the international community according to its laws, systems, and regulations. However, turning the region into a battlefield without end and exposing it to possibilities that may be more dangerous than those that ignited the war is an issue that President Trump must understand from the world’s perspective.
