اقترب فريق ولفرهامبتون من توديع الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز «البريمرليغ» بعد أن خرج متعادلاً مع مضيفه برنتفورد بهدفين لكل منهما في ختام الجولة 30 للدوري الممتاز.
وأدى هذا التعادل إلى اقتراب ولفرهامبتون من العودة إلى دوري «تشامبيونشيب» بعد 8 مواسم قضاها في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.
وشهد اللقاء تقدم برنتفورد بهدفين عن طريق كل من: الإيطالي ميكايل كايودي (22) والبرازيلي إيغور تياغو (37)، قبل أن يدرك ولفرهامبتون التعادل عن طريق آدم أرمسترونغ (44) والبديل النيجيري تولووالاسي أروكوداري (78).
ويفصل بين ولفرهامبتون متذيّل الترتيب، ونوتنغهام فوريست في المركز السابع عشر (الآمن)، 12 نقطة، علماً أنه لعب مباراة أكثر من باقي منافسيه على البقاء.
وأنهى الفريق الموسم الماضي في المركز السادس عشر وكان قريباً من الهبوط أيضاً، لكنه لم يتمكن من تحسين مستواه هذا الموسم على الرغم من تحقيقه فوزين مفاجئين في مباراتيه السابقتين على أستون فيلا وليفربول، وقبلها تعادله مع آرسنال، ولكن هذا الموسم يواجه الفريق صعوبة حقيقية للبقاء في «البريمرليغ».
