بعد فشله في إعادة هيبة المنتخب السعودي وصناعة فريق قادر على مقارعة المنتخبات المشاركة في مونديال 2026، فضل الفرنسي «رينارد» عدم قيادة «الأخضر» في المحفل العالمي، بعد الانتقادات الكبيرة التي تعرض لها عقب خسارة المنتخب السعودي من نظيره الصربي بنتيجة (2-1)، في المباراة الودية، ضمن معسكره الإعدادي الجاري استعدادًا للمشاركة في كأس العالم 2026، وفق التقرير الذي بثته صحيفة «ليكيب» الفرنسية، والتي
أكدت أن «رينارد» ينتظر رد الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم، على طلبه بالرحيل عن تدريب «الأخضر»، في ظل صعوبة الأجواء في الكرة السعودية، مبرراً الأسباب التي أجبرته على الرحيل ومن أهمها ارتفاع عدد اللاعبين الأجانب في دوري روشن، وعدم إمكانية مشاركة اللاعبين المحليين مع أنديتهم.
ويرى «رينارد» أن اللاعبين المحليين كانوا يلعبون في فرق أضعف، ولكنهم كانوا يشاركون بشكل أساسي، عكس الوقت الحالي، بعد انضمامهم للأندية الكبرى.
ويشعر «رينارد» أنه غير قادر على تحقيق ما يصبو إليه منذ عودته لقيادة المنتخب السعودي في 2024، في ظل تلك الأوضاع، وهو ما يجعله غير متحمس لاستكمال مسيرته في المونديال، على عكس رغبة الاتحاد.
وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن المدرب الفرنسي قد يتلقى عرضًا لتدريب منتخب غانا، خلفًا لأوتو أدو الذي تمت إقالته من منصبه عقب الهزيمة من ألمانيا، قبل أقل من شهرين ونصف على انطلاق كأس العالم.
وفي هذه الحالة، ستكون تلك هي المرة الثالثة التي يظهر فيها رينارد في كأس العالم، مع منتخب جديد، بعد أن ظهر مع المغرب في 2018، والسعودية في 2022.

confirmed that “Renard” is awaiting a response from the Saudi Football Federation regarding his request to leave the coaching position of “Al-Akhdar,” given the difficult atmosphere in Saudi football, justifying the reasons that forced him to leave, among which is the high number of foreign players in the Roshan League and the inability of local players to participate with their clubs.
Renard believes that local players used to play in weaker teams, but they participated as key players, unlike the current situation, after joining major clubs.
Renard feels that he is unable to achieve what he aspires to since returning to lead the Saudi national team in 2024, given those conditions, which makes him unenthusiastic about continuing his journey in the World Cup, contrary to the federation’s desire.
The newspaper pointed out that the French coach may receive an offer to coach the Ghana national team, succeeding Otto Addo, who was dismissed from his position following the defeat to Germany, less than two and a half months before the World Cup kicks off.
In this case, it would be the third time Renard appears in the World Cup with a new team, after appearing with Morocco in 2018 and Saudi Arabia in 2022.
