في قصة إنسانية أثارت موجة تضامن واسعة على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، برز شاب مصري (18 عاماً)، الملقب بـ«جلال النقاش الصغير»، كرمز للكفاح والصبر في مواجهة الصعاب. يعمل نقاشاً لمساعدة أسرته، ويوفر من طعامه اليومي البسيط ليجمع تكلفة عملية جراحية في عينه، بعد إصابة سابقة أدت إلى انفصال في الشبكية.
بدأت القصة عندما انتشر فيديو للشاب جلال مجدي من محافظة كفر الشيخ وهو يتناول غداءه البسيط المكون من رغيف خبز وكيس بابا غنوج بتكلفة لا تتجاوز 10 جنيهات فقط، مؤكداً: «أنا مش بخيل، أنا بحوش عشان أعمل عملية في عيني، نفسي أخف».
وأوضح الشاب أنه ترك الثانوية العامة ليساعد والده، وكان يعمل سابقاً في ورشة نجارة حيث أُصيب في عينه أثناء العمل، ما تسبب في نزيف شديد وانفصال الشبكية.
وقال الشاب إنه أجرى بالفعل 4 عمليات سابقة، لكنه يحتاج عملية إضافية تكلف نحو 150 ألف جنيه، مؤكداً أنه ينفق يوميته (نحو 300 جنيه) على أسرته مع التوفير الشديد من قوته الشخصي.
ولم يطلب جلال المساعدة مباشرة، بل أصر على أنه يعمل ويصرف على نفسه، قائلاً إنه يتحمل الشغل الشاق من أجل علاجه.
وعلى الفور انتشر الفيديو بسرعة كبيرة، وأثار تعاطف الملايين، مع هاشتاقات وتعليقات تُشيد بصبره وتعففه.
واستجابت الجهات الرسمية بسرعة، حيث أعلنت اللجنة الطبية بمجلس الوزراء المصري التكفل الكامل بجراحة الشاب، كما أعلن طبيب عيون مصري تبني الحالة وتقديم الجراحة. وفور نشر التفاصيل، استجابت المؤسسة العلاجية بوزارة الصحة والسكان بالتوجيه بعلاج الشاب جلال في مستشفى مبرة المعادي، حيث سيخضع لكافة الفحوصات اللازمة وإجراء العملية على نفقة الدولة، مع توفير أقصى رعاية طبية. وكذلك استجاب رجل الأعمال عصام العرجاني للحالة.
وفي أول ظهور لأسرته، عبر والد جلال عن سعادته الغامرة، قائلاً: «نفسي ابني يعمل العملية ويعيش حياة كريمة»، مشيراً إلى أنه علم بانتشار قصة ابنه في ساعة متأخرة من الليل، أما جلال فقد وجه الشكر لكل من ساهم في ذلك، مؤكداً: «ربنا فتح كل الأبواب».

He works as a painter to support his family and saves from his simple daily food to gather the cost of a surgical operation for his eye, following a previous injury that led to a retinal detachment.
The story began when a video of Jalal Magdy from Kafr El-Sheikh governorate went viral, showing him having his simple lunch consisting of a loaf of bread and a bag of baba ghanoush costing no more than 10 pounds, affirming: “I’m not stingy, I’m saving to have surgery on my eye, I just want to get better.”
Jalal explained that he left high school to help his father and previously worked in a carpentry workshop where he was injured in his eye while working, causing severe bleeding and retinal detachment.
The young man stated that he had already undergone 4 previous surgeries, but he needs an additional operation costing about 150,000 pounds, confirming that he spends his daily earnings (about 300 pounds) on his family while saving as much as possible from his personal sustenance.
Jalal did not directly ask for help but insisted that he works and supports himself, saying that he endures hard work for his treatment.
Immediately, the video spread rapidly and evoked the sympathy of millions, with hashtags and comments praising his patience and dignity.
The official authorities responded quickly, as the medical committee of the Egyptian Cabinet announced full coverage for the young man’s surgery, and an Egyptian ophthalmologist announced that he would take on the case and provide the surgery. As soon as the details were published, the healthcare institution at the Ministry of Health and Population responded by directing that Jalal be treated at Al-Maadi Hospital, where he will undergo all necessary examinations and have the operation at the state’s expense, with the utmost medical care provided. Businessman Essam Al-Arjani also responded to the case.
In the first appearance of his family, Jalal’s father expressed his overwhelming happiness, saying: “I hope my son has the operation and lives a decent life,” noting that he learned about his son’s story going viral late at night. Jalal thanked everyone who contributed to this, affirming: “God has opened all the doors.”
