أكدت المملكة ضرورة توحيد الجهود الدولية لمواجهة تحديات المياه المتزايدة عالمياً، ودعت إلى اعتماد نهج شامل يربط المياه بقضايا المناخ والغذاء والطاقة والصحة. جاء ذلك، خلال مشاركة وكيل وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة للمياه الدكتور عبدالعزيز الشيباني، في منتدى إسطنبول الدولي الخامس للمياه، إذ استعرضت المملكة تجربتها ودعمها للتحضير لاستضافة المنتدى العالمي الـ11 للمياه في الرياض العام القادم.
وشدد الشيباني، على أهمية الانتقال من الحوار إلى التنفيذ عبر مواءمة المسارات الفنية والإقليمية والسياسية وتعزيز مشاركة الشباب. كما نظم الوفد السعودي جلسة بعنوان «من إسطنبول إلى الرياض» لعرض تقدم التحضيرات للمنتدى العالمي، والاستعداد للاجتماع التشاوري الثاني لأصحاب المصلحة المقرر عقده في جدة نهاية يونيو القادم بالتزامن مع أسبوع المياه السعودي.
The Kingdom emphasized the necessity of unifying international efforts to address the growing global water challenges and called for a comprehensive approach that links water to climate, food, energy, and health issues. This came during the participation of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Water, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani, in the Fifth Istanbul International Water Forum, where the Kingdom showcased its experience and support in preparation for hosting the 11th World Water Forum in Riyadh next year.
Al-Shaibani stressed the importance of moving from dialogue to implementation by aligning technical, regional, and political pathways and enhancing youth participation. The Saudi delegation also organized a session titled “From Istanbul to Riyadh” to present the progress of preparations for the World Forum and to prepare for the second consultative meeting of stakeholders scheduled to be held in Jeddah at the end of next June, coinciding with Saudi Water Week.
