This rare official appearance was a welcome for the band, which is preparing to kick off its long-awaited world tour “ARIRANG.” About 50,000 fans (ARMY) gathered in the main square, in a scene described by observers as a clear acknowledgment of the soft power represented by the band globally, as no musical group has ever been received with such official warmth inside the Mexican National Palace.
During the press conference, President Sheinbaum praised the band, stating that they carry “messages of friendship and peace” that touch the hearts of Mexican youth. For their part, the band members waved to the massive crowd, which could not contain itself, as moments of crying and deep emotion were observed among fans who had waited for this moment for years.
