أكد اليوناني جورجيوس دونيس في تصريحات خاصة لـ “عكاظ”، أن تركيزه الحالي ينصب على تطوير المنتخب السعودي ونقل أفكاره الفنية إلى اللاعبين، مشيراً إلى أن الحديث عن تقييم قرعة كأس العالم لا يزال مبكراً.
وقال دونيس: «عموماً أنا لست الشخص الذي يقيّم القرعة، نحن نحترم جميع المنافسين ونعرفهم جيداً، وعندما نصل خطوة بخطوة إلى البطولة سنقوم بتحليلهم وتقييمهم بشكل أكبر».
وأضاف: «أولويتي الحالية هي تطوير الفريق، وحتى الآن لم أعمل بشكل كافٍ مع اللاعبين، وهذه فترة مهمة جداً بالنسبة لنا لنقل أفكارنا ومحاولة أن نكون منافسين بقوة في كأس العالم».
وأشار مدرب الأخضر إلى أن اللعب على أرض المنتخب قد يمنحه أفضلية إضافية، موضحاً: «لدينا ميزة اللعب على أرضنا، وربما يكون هناك ضغط، لكن بخبرتنا نستطيع تحويل هذا الضغط إلى قوة خلال المباريات، وأن نقاتل مباراة بعد أخرى من أجل الوصول إلى النهائي».
وعن استعداداته ومتابعته للاعبين، قال دونيس: «لدي خبرة سابقة في الدوري السعودي، وأتابع جميع المباريات، وخلال الأسابيع الثلاثة الماضية منذ توقيع العقد شاهدت الكثير من اللقاءات، أولاً لكي أكون عادلاً مع اللاعبين، وبعد ذلك لكي أكون عادلاً مع نفسي وأفكاري الفنية».
وتابع: «أعتقد أنه من الصعب أن تكون هناك مفاجآت بالنسبة لي، لكن الأولوية بالنسبة لي هي نقل أفكاري وإيجاد الانسجام بين مختلف الأجيال داخل المنتخب».
وفي حديثه عن الأندية السعودية، رفض دونيس التقليل من أي فريق، قائلاً: «أنا أحترم جميع الأندية، وأتابع الجميع، ولا أريد الحديث برأي شخصي عن أي نادٍ لأنني أمثل المنتخب الوطني».
وأضاف في حديثه عن الهلال: «الهلال يبقى فريقاً كبيراً وصاحب تاريخ وقيمة فنية عالية، والمنافسة في الدوري السعودي أصبحت أقوى بكثير من السابق».
واختتم دونيس تصريحاته قائلاً: «من الجميل مشاهدة هذا التطور في مستوى الدوري السعودي، وسيكون الأمر أجمل عندما نرى عدداً أكبر من اللاعبين السعوديين يشاركون مع المنتخب.
The Greek Georgios Donis confirmed in exclusive statements to “Okaz” that his current focus is on developing the Saudi national team and conveying his technical ideas to the players, noting that it is still early to discuss the evaluation of the World Cup draw.
Donis said: “In general, I am not the person who evaluates the draw; we respect all competitors and know them well. When we reach the tournament step by step, we will analyze and evaluate them more.”
He added: “My current priority is to develop the team, and so far I have not worked sufficiently with the players. This is a very important period for us to convey our ideas and try to be strong competitors in the World Cup.”
The Green coach indicated that playing on home ground might give them an additional advantage, explaining: “We have the advantage of playing at home, and there might be pressure, but with our experience, we can turn this pressure into strength during the matches, and fight match after match to reach the final.”
Regarding his preparations and monitoring of the players, Donis said: “I have previous experience in the Saudi league, and I follow all the matches. Over the past three weeks since signing the contract, I have watched many encounters, first to be fair to the players, and then to be fair to myself and my technical ideas.”
He continued: “I think it is difficult for there to be surprises for me, but my priority is to convey my ideas and find harmony among the different generations within the national team.”
In his remarks about Saudi clubs, Donis refused to underestimate any team, saying: “I respect all clubs, I follow everyone, and I do not want to express a personal opinion about any club because I represent the national team.”
He added in his comments about Al Hilal: “Al Hilal remains a great team with a rich history and high technical value, and the competition in the Saudi league has become much stronger than before.”
Donis concluded his statements by saying: “It is beautiful to see this development in the level of the Saudi league, and it will be even more beautiful when we see a larger number of Saudi players participating with the national team.
