حسم رئيس ريال مدريد فلورنتينو بيريز الجدل حول أنباء استقالته من منصبه، بعد الموسم الصفري للفريق الأول لكرة القدم للعام الثاني على التوالي.
وقال بيريز خلال مؤتمر صحفي، اليوم (الثلاثاء): «أشكركم جميعاً على حضوركم، يؤسفني إبلاغكم بأنني لن أستقيل، لقد طلبت من اللجنة الانتخابية البدء في إجراءات انتخابات مجلس الإدارة، التي سيخوضها هذا المجلس».
وأضاف: «أشارككم الإحباط لأننا لم نتمكن من تحقيق أي فوز هذا العام، لكن عليّ أن أؤكد لكم وأُظهر لكم أننا، برئاستي، فزنا بـ66 لقباً في كرة القدم وكرة السلة، بما في ذلك سبعة ألقاب في دوري أبطال أوروبا لكرة القدم».
بيريز يتحدى منتقديه
وتابع: «أودّ أن أتوجه بالحديث إلى من يقفون وراء هذه الحملة، والذين يعملون في الخفاء، فليترشحوا للانتخابات، فقد أتيحت لهم الفرصة الآن، سأترشح للدفاع عن مصالح ريال مدريد، من يريد الترشح فليترشح، لكن لا تتحدثوا من وراء ظهري بأنني أبدو متعباً، قبل عامين فقط فزتُ بلقب الدوري ودوري أبطال أوروبا، والآن يُقال إن مدريد في حالة خراب وفوضى!».
نفي الإصابة بالسرطان
وواصل بيريز حديثه قائلاً: «أودّ أن أغتنم هذه الفرصة لأطمئن كل من انتابهم القلق عليّ بأنني ما زلت أتولى رئاسة ريال مدريد وشركتي، وأن صحتي ممتازة، لم يكن بإمكاني الجمع بين هذين المنصبين لو لم تكن صحتي ممتازة».
وأوضح: «لو كنت مصاباً بالسرطان، كما قيل، لكان عليّ الذهاب إلى مركز متخصص في علاج الأورام. ولو كنت كذلك، ألم يكن لينتشر ذلك في كل مكان في العالم؟».
قضية نيغريرا
وحول التحقيق مع برشلونة في قضية نيغريرا الشهيرة المتعلقة بالتحكيم، أجاب: «إنها أكبر فضيحة في التاريخ، من غير المعقول أن نرى حكاماً من تلك الحقبة لا يزالون يديرون مباريات في دورينا، ونحن بصدد إعداد ملف مهم سنقدمه إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم».
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has settled the debate regarding rumors of his resignation from his position, following the team’s zero-win season for the second consecutive year.
Pérez said during a press conference today (Tuesday): “I thank you all for your attendance, and I regret to inform you that I will not resign. I have asked the electoral committee to begin the procedures for the board of directors’ elections, which this council will participate in.”
He added: “I share your frustration because we have not been able to achieve any victories this year, but I must assure you and show you that, under my presidency, we have won 66 titles in football and basketball, including seven titles in the UEFA Champions League.”
Pérez challenges his critics
He continued: “I would like to address those behind this campaign, who work in the shadows; they should run for election, as they now have the opportunity. I will run to defend the interests of Real Madrid. Those who want to run should do so, but do not talk behind my back about how I look tired. Just two years ago, I won the league and the Champions League, and now it is said that Madrid is in ruins and chaos!”
Denying cancer diagnosis
Pérez went on to say: “I would like to take this opportunity to reassure everyone who has been concerned about me that I am still in charge of Real Madrid and my company, and that my health is excellent. I could not hold both positions if my health were not excellent.”
He clarified: “If I had cancer, as has been said, I would have to go to a specialized cancer treatment center. And if that were the case, wouldn’t it have spread everywhere in the world?”
The Negreira case
Regarding the investigation into Barcelona in the famous Negreira case related to refereeing, he responded: “It is the biggest scandal in history. It is inconceivable to see referees from that era still officiating matches in our league, and we are preparing an important file that we will submit to UEFA.”
