أوضح المهندس رائد أبو زنادة، الخبير في سباقات السيارات، أن رحلة بناء حلبة «الريم» في الرياض، ألزمتهم الإقامة عامين داخل خيمة في الصحراء لمتابعة أعمال التنفيذ في ظل تحديات أمنية صعبة، مشيراً إلى أنه كان يحمل شيكاً بقيمة 180 مليون ريال مخصصاً للمشروع وسط ظروف معقدة واجهها الفريق خلال تلك المرحلة.
وكشف أبو زنادة، خلال لقائه مع «بودكاست بترولي»، تفاصيل البدايات الأولى، التي انطلقت من شغفه المبكر بمجلات السيارات، وصولاً إلى اللحظة التاريخية التي صدر فيها خطاب الموافقة على افتتاح أول حلبة سباقٍ في المملكة، مؤكداً أن الحلم لم يكن سهلاً، بل تطلّب سنواتٍ من العمل الميداني والإصرار والتحدي.
كما تطرّق اللقاء إلى المفاوضات التي أُجريت مع شركات عالمية كبرى كـ«فيراري» و«بورشه» و«لامبورغيني»، بهدف إطلاق أولى البطولات الرسمية على أرض المملكة، في خطوةٍ أسهمت لاحقاً في ترسيخ مكانة السعودية على خارطة رياضة المحركات العالمية.
وتحدّث أبو زنادة عن التحول الكبير الذي شهدته المملكة في السنوات الأخيرة، إذ باتت وجهةً عالمية تستضيف أحداثاً كبرى كـ«فورمولا 1» و«رالي داكار»، مستعرِضاً الفوارق التقنية والتنظيمية بين أبرز سباقات السيارات العالمية.
وأكد أن ما بلغته المملكة اليوم في قطاع رياضة السيارات جاء بفضل الدعم الكبير والاهتمام المتواصل من القيادة الرشيدة، بقيادة عرّاب الرؤية ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان ، وبدعم وزير الرياضة، والأمير خالد بن سلطان، وقال: «حفزنا ذلك، بأن نكون جزءاً من هذا الحراك الكبير والبناء عليه، إذ تتمثل رؤيتنا في إطلاق مشروع الموهبين في مجال السيارات؛ وذلك لتحفيز المواهب والشباب والطموحين للانطلاق، وتطوير مواهبهم في هذا المجال الحيوي، باعتبارنا امتداداً داعماً ومكمّلاً للجهود الكبيرة التي تُبذل اليوم في القطاع الرياضي والشبابي، من أجل صناعة أثر إيجابي». مؤكداً أن هذه فرصة لكل شاب طموح، إذ نتيح له الاستثمار في موهبته.
وأشاد بجهود الأمير خالد بن سلطان العبدالله الفيصل رئيس مجلس إدارة الاتحاد السعودي للسيارات والدراجات النارية، وما يقدمه من دعمٍ أسهم في تعزيز مكانة المملكة وجهةً عالمية لرياضات المحركات.
Engineer Raed Abu Zanadah, an expert in car racing, clarified that the journey of building the “Riyadh” circuit required them to stay for two years inside a tent in the desert to oversee the execution works amidst difficult security challenges, noting that he was carrying a check worth 180 million riyals allocated for the project under complex conditions faced by the team during that phase.
Abu Zanadah revealed, during his interview with the “Petroleum Podcast,” details of the early beginnings, which started from his early passion for car magazines, leading up to the historic moment when the approval letter for the opening of the first racetrack in the Kingdom was issued, confirming that the dream was not easy and required years of fieldwork, determination, and challenge.
The discussion also touched on the negotiations that were conducted with major global companies such as “Ferrari,” “Porsche,” and “Lamborghini,” with the aim of launching the first official championships on Saudi soil, a step that later contributed to establishing Saudi Arabia’s position on the global motorsports map.
Abu Zanadah spoke about the significant transformation the Kingdom has witnessed in recent years, as it has become a global destination hosting major events such as “Formula 1” and “Dakar Rally,” showcasing the technical and organizational differences between the most prominent global car races.
He emphasized that what the Kingdom has achieved today in the motorsports sector is due to the great support and continuous interest from the wise leadership, led by the architect of the vision, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, with the support of the Minister of Sports and Prince Khalid bin Sultan. He stated: “This motivated us to be part of this significant movement and to build upon it, as our vision is to launch a project for talented individuals in the field of cars; to stimulate talents, youth, and ambitious individuals to take off and develop their skills in this vital field, considering ourselves a supportive and complementary extension to the great efforts being made today in the sports and youth sector, to create a positive impact.” He confirmed that this is an opportunity for every ambitious young person, as we enable them to invest in their talent.
He praised the efforts of Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, and what he provides in terms of support that has contributed to enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a global destination for motorsports.
