أسدلت محكمة أمريكية الستار على أحد أبرز النزاعات في قطاع الذكاء الاصطناعي، بعدما رفضت هيئة المحلفين الدعوى التي رفعها إيلون ماسك على مؤسسي OpenAI، في حكم يمنح الشركة دعمًا قانونيًا مهمًا في إطار تحولها إلى نموذج ربحي مدعوم باستثمارات ضخمة من مايكروسوفت.
ويُعد ذلك انتصارًا قانونيًا لكلٍّ من مؤسسي الشركة سام ألتمان وجريج بروكمان بعد أسابيع من جلسات المحاكمة المكثفة، وخلصت الهيئة إلى أن المهلة القانونية لتقديم الدعوى كانت قد انتهت بالفعل عند رفع ماسك القضية في عام 2024، إذ اتهم ألتمان وبروكمان بـ«الاستيلاء على مؤسسة خيرية» عقب مغادرته الشركة عام 2018.
ومع أن قرار هيئة المحلفين حمل صفة «استشارية»، فإن القاضية إيفون جونزاليس روجرز وافقت على الحكم، مؤكدةً رفض دعاوى «الإخلال بالثقة الخيرية والإثراء غير المشروع» بسبب تجاوز المهلة القانونية. كما حذّرت محامي ماسك من أن أي استئناف محتمل قد يُرفض فورًا.
An American court has brought down the curtain on one of the most prominent disputes in the artificial intelligence sector, after the jury rejected the lawsuit filed by Elon Musk against the founders of OpenAI, in a ruling that provides the company with important legal support as it transitions to a profit model backed by massive investments from Microsoft.
This is a legal victory for both of the company’s founders, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, following weeks of intense trial sessions. The jury concluded that the legal deadline for filing the lawsuit had already expired when Musk brought the case in 2024, accusing Altman and Brockman of “misappropriating a charitable foundation” after leaving the company in 2018.
Although the jury’s decision was advisory in nature, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers agreed with the ruling, affirming the rejection of claims of “breach of charitable trust and unjust enrichment” due to the expiration of the legal deadline. She also warned Musk’s lawyers that any potential appeal could be dismissed immediately.
