من مدينة سيمفروبول الأوكرانية، بدأت حكاية طفل صغير كان يحمل حلماً أكبر من واقعه، قبل أن يتحول مع مرور السنوات إلى واحد من أعظم أبطال ملاكمة الوزن الثقيل في العالم. هناك وُلد الملاكم الأوكراني أولكسندر أوسيك عام 1987، وهناك أيضاً تشكلت شخصية المقاتل الذي لا يعرف الاستسلام، ليشق طريقه لاحقاً نحو قمة المجد العالمي.

كتابة التاريخ في الرياض
ومع تنامي حضور الملاكمة في السعودية، أصبح أوسيك أحد أهم نجوم النزالات الكبرى التي تستضيفها المملكة. وفي الرياض، خاض البطل الأوكراني أهم مواجهة في مسيرته أمام البريطاني تايسون فيوري ضمن موسم الرياض، في نزال تاريخي لتوحيد الأحزمة العالمية للوزن الثقيل.
وتمكن أوسيك من حسم المواجهة بقرار الحكام بعد ملحمة استثنائية، ليصبح أول بطل موحد للوزن الثقيل منذ أكثر من 20 عاماً، قبل أن يعود لاحقاً ويؤكد تفوقه مجدداً في نزال الإعادة، مواصلاً فرض سيطرته على هذه الفئة.

In his early days, Usyk did not think about boxing, as he first turned to football, but his passion for competition and spirit of challenge quickly led him to the ring and gloves, beginning a long journey filled with sacrifices and hard work. Thanks to his great talent and determination, he succeeded in making a name for himself among the top amateur boxers, culminating in winning the gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012, an achievement that opened the doors to global professionalism for him.
Unifying the belts and entering the heavyweight division
Usyk entered the world of professional boxing with a different artistic style, known for his great speed, tactical intelligence, and high ability to read his opponents in the ring. In the “Cruiserweight” division, he achieved a historic accomplishment by unifying all the world belts, becoming the first boxer to collect titles from:

The beginning of true dominance came when he faced British boxer Anthony Joshua in London in 2021, where he succeeded in seizing the heavyweight titles after an astonishing performance that caught the world’s attention. He then returned to confirm his superiority in the second bout in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 2022, during a historic night hosted by the Kingdom that witnessed a global audience and media presence, further solidifying his status as one of the top boxers of the modern era.
Writing history in Riyadh
With the growing presence of boxing in Saudi Arabia, Usyk became one of the most important stars of the major bouts hosted by the Kingdom. In Riyadh, the Ukrainian champion faced the most significant match of his career against British boxer Tyson Fury as part of the Riyadh Season, in a historic bout to unify the heavyweight world belts.
Usyk managed to win the match by judges’ decision after an extraordinary battle, becoming the first unified heavyweight champion in over 20 years, before later returning to confirm his superiority again in the rematch, continuing to assert his dominance in this category.
The epic “Glory in Giza” at the pyramids
In the latest chapter of his career, Usyk returned to steal the global spotlight when he entered an extraordinary ring at the foot of the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, as part of the “Glory in Giza” event, where he faced Dutchman Rico Verhoeven in a global evening that witnessed a large audience and media presence, alongside the attendance of the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Counselor Turki Al Sheikh.
The match was filled with excitement and twists, as Rico Verhoeven appeared strong and applied significant pressure during the early rounds, but Usyk’s experience shone through in the crucial moments, as he gradually regained control and delivered impactful punches in the 11th round, prompting the referee to stop the fight, allowing the Ukrainian champion to retain his world titles and confirm his dominance over the heavyweight throne.
Despite all the achievements and belts he has earned, many do not view Usyk merely as a boxing champion, but as a story of determination and a person who challenged circumstances and difficulties to reach the top.
