مزدلفة ثالث المشاعر المقدسة، ويمر بها الحجاج خلال أدائهم مناسك الحج قادمين من عرفات، وتقام فيها صلاتا المغرب والعشاء جمعاً وقصراً، ويبيتون فيها حتى صباح اليوم التالي يوم عيد الأضحى، ثم يتوجهون منها إلى منى.
ثالث المشاعر المقدسة ومن تركه فعليه دم، والمستحب الاقتداء برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في المبيت إلى أن يُصبح، ثم يقف حتى يسفر، ولا بأس بتقديم الضعفاء والنساء، ثم يدفع إلى منى قبل طلوع الشمس.
ويُعد مشعر مزدلفة بكامله موقفاً عدا وادي محسر، الذي يقع بينه وبين منى، وسمي بمحسر كما أفاد به مدير مركز تاريخ مكة المكرمة الدكتور فواز الدهاس؛ لأن الله -عز وجل- حسر فيه فيل أبرهة من التقدم نحو الكعبة. وكان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذ أتى وادي محسر حرك ناقته وأسرع في السير، وهذه هي عادته في المواضع التي أنزل الله سبحانه وتعالى فيها بأسه بأعدائه.
ومساحة مشعر مزدلفة الإجمالية 963 هكتاراً، منها 682 هكتاراً يستفاد منها للحجاج، وفيها مسجد المشعر الحرام. وكان النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ينزل عند قبلته، ويقع في بداية مزدلفة على قارعة الطريق (رقم 5) الذي يفصل بين التل والمسجد، ويبعد عن مسجد الخيف نحو خمسة كيلومترات، وعن مسجد نمرة سبعة كيلومترات.
Muzdalifah is the third of the holy sites, and pilgrims pass through it during their rituals of Hajj coming from Arafat. The Maghrib and Isha prayers are performed together and shortened here, and they spend the night until the morning of the next day, the day of Eid al-Adha, before heading to Mina.
The third holy site must not be omitted, and if someone neglects it, they must offer a sacrifice. It is recommended to follow the example of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, by staying until dawn, then standing until it becomes light. It is permissible to allow the weak and women to go ahead, and then they should proceed to Mina before sunrise.
The entire area of Muzdalifah is considered a standing place, except for the Valley of Muhassir, which lies between it and Mina. It is called Muhassir, as stated by Dr. Fawaz Al-Dahas, the director of the Center for the History of Mecca, because Allah – the Exalted – caused the elephant of Abraha to be defeated there as he advanced towards the Kaaba. When the Prophet, peace be upon him, reached the Valley of Muhassir, he urged his camel to move faster, and this was his habit in places where Allah, the Almighty, manifested His wrath upon His enemies.
The total area of Muzdalifah is 963 hectares, of which 682 hectares are utilized for the pilgrims, and it includes the Mosque of Muzdalifah. The Prophet – peace be upon him – would camp near its qibla, which is located at the beginning of Muzdalifah on the roadside (number 5) that separates the hill from the mosque, and it is about five kilometers from the Mosque of Al-Khaif and seven kilometers from the Mosque of Namirah.
