تمكنت بعثة أثرية مصرية تابعة للمجلس الأعلى للآثار من كشف أول مجموعة شبه متكاملة من الأثاث الجنائزي داخل مقبرة «بانحسي»، وذلك خلال أعمال التنقيب الجارية في جبانة هليوبوليس التاريخية الواقعة شرق القاهرة.
وأعلنت وزارة السياحة والآثار، في بيان رسمي، أن الاكتشاف يمثل خبيئة أثرية نادرة تضم مجموعة مميزة من القطع الجنائزية، من بينها أقراط معدنية يُعتقد أنها مصنوعة من الذهب، إلى جانب تمائم وجعارين تحمل دلالات دينية ورمزية تعكس معتقدات المصريين القدماء.
وأكد وزير السياحة والآثار، شريف فتحي، أن هذا الكشف يعكس نجاح البعثات الأثرية المصرية في تسليط الضوء على تاريخ مدينة هليوبوليس، إحدى أبرز المراكز الدينية في الحضارة المصرية القديمة، مشيراً إلى أن المكتشفات الجديدة تسهم في تعميق الفهم العلمي للحياة اليومية والطقوس الجنائزية التي اتبعها سكان المنطقة عبر العصور المختلفة.
من جهته، أوضح الأمين العام للمجلس الأعلى للآثار، محمد إسماعيل خالد، أن أعمال الحفائر بدأت بالعثور على دفنة مشيدة من الطوب اللبن تضم بقايا عظام آدمية، قبل أن تقود مواصلة التنقيب إلى اكتشاف خبيئة أثرية متكاملة تحتوي على مجموعة من القطع النادرة والفريدة.
وضمت الخبيئة مرآة مصنوعة من النحاس، وثلاث مكاحل أثرية، اثنتان منها من مرمر الألباستر، بينما صُنعت الثالثة من حجر الأوبسيديان الأسود النادر. كما عُثر على إناء من الفيانس الأزرق الفاتح احتوى على ستة جعارين، من بينها جعرانان محاطان بإطار معدني أصفر يُرجح أنه من الذهب.
وشملت المكتشفات أيضاً مجموعة من التمائم المصنوعة من الفيانس بأشكال متنوعة، وأحجاراً كريمة من العقيق الأحمر والأخضر واللازورد، بعضها مزود بإطارات معدنية صفراء، إضافة إلى 5 أزواج من الأقراط المعدنية بأحجام مختلفة.
ويأتي هذا الاكتشاف ضمن نطاق جبانة هليوبوليس، التي كانت المركز الرئيسي لعبادة الإله «رع» في مصر القديمة، وتُعد من أهم المواقع الأثرية التي توثق تطور الممارسات الجنائزية والعقائدية عبر فترات تاريخية متعاقبة، بدءاً من العصور المتأخرة مروراً بالعصر الروماني وصولاً إلى العصور المسيحية.
ويمثل الكشف إضافة علمية وأثرية مهمة تسهم في فهم أعمق للتطور الاجتماعي والديني في واحدة من أقدم المدن المقدسة في مصر، كما يعزز من القيمة التاريخية والأثرية لمنطقتي عين شمس والمطرية اللتين تواصلان تقديم شواهد جديدة على عراقة الحضارة المصرية وثراء إرثها الممتد عبر آلاف السنين.
An Egyptian archaeological mission affiliated with the Supreme Council of Antiquities has uncovered the first nearly complete collection of funerary furniture inside the tomb of “Banihsi,” during ongoing excavation work in the historical necropolis of Heliopolis located east of Cairo.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced in an official statement that the discovery represents a rare archaeological cache that includes a distinctive collection of funerary items, among which are metal earrings believed to be made of gold, along with amulets and scarabs bearing religious and symbolic significance that reflect the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians.
Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy confirmed that this discovery reflects the success of Egyptian archaeological missions in shedding light on the history of Heliopolis, one of the most prominent religious centers in ancient Egyptian civilization, noting that the new findings contribute to a deeper scientific understanding of the daily life and funerary rituals practiced by the inhabitants of the area throughout different eras.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mohamed Ismail Khaled, explained that excavation work began with the discovery of a burial constructed of mud bricks containing human skeletal remains, before continued digging led to the discovery of a complete archaeological cache containing a collection of rare and unique items.
The cache included a mirror made of copper, three ancient kohl containers, two of which are made of alabaster, while the third is made of rare black obsidian stone. A light blue faience vessel was also found, containing six scarabs, among which are two scarabs surrounded by a yellow metal frame believed to be gold.
The discoveries also included a collection of amulets made of faience in various shapes, and gemstones of red and green agate and lapis lazuli, some of which are equipped with yellow metal frames, in addition to five pairs of metal earrings of different sizes.
This discovery comes within the scope of the Heliopolis necropolis, which was the main center for the worship of the god “Ra” in ancient Egypt, and is considered one of the most important archaeological sites that document the evolution of funerary and doctrinal practices over successive historical periods, starting from the Late Period, through the Roman era, and reaching the Christian ages.
The discovery represents an important scientific and archaeological addition that contributes to a deeper understanding of social and religious development in one of the oldest sacred cities in Egypt, while enhancing the historical and archaeological value of the Ain Shams and Matariya areas, which continue to provide new evidence of the richness of Egyptian civilization and its extensive heritage spanning thousands of years.
