في وقت تتسابق فيه المنصات الرقمية على جذب انتباه المستخدمين، وتزداد فيه سطوة الخوارزميات على تشكيل الاهتمامات وصناعة الرأي العام، استضافت جمعية الثقافة والفنون بجدة مساء أمس (السبت)، الكاتب الدكتور أحمد العرفج في أمسية ثقافية بعنوان «هيمنة الترند»، بحضور نخبة من المثقفين والفنانين والإعلاميين والمهتمين بالشأن الثقافي والمعرفي، وذلك ضمن برنامج المعايدة السنوي الذي نظمته الجمعية بمناسبة عيد الأضحى المبارك.
وامتدت الأمسية لأكثر من 4 ساعات، تناول خلالها العرفج التحولات العميقة التي أحدثتها المنصات الرقمية في حياة الأفراد والمجتمعات، مستعرضاً آليات صناعة «الترند» ودور الخوارزميات في توجيه الاهتمام وصناعة التأثير وتشكيل السلوك.
اقتصاد الانتباه.. معركة العصر
استهل العرفج حديثه بتفسير مفهوم «الترند» وآليات انتشاره، مؤكداً أن المنصات الرقمية لا تعمل بصورة عشوائية، بل تستند إلى خوارزميات دقيقة تراقب اهتمامات المستخدمين وتفضيلاتهم، وتدفع إليهم محتوى يتوافق مع سلوكهم الرقمي.
وأوضح أن العالم يعيش اليوم مرحلة «اقتصاد الانتباه»، حيث أصبحت المنافسة الحقيقية تدور حول كسب وقت الإنسان وتركيزه، مبيناً أن القدرة على الاستحواذ على الانتباه تمنح أصحابها تأثيراً واسعاً في القرارات والاتجاهات وأنماط التفكير.
حين يبدو رأي الأقلية وكأنه رأي الجميع
وأشار العرفج إلى أن بعض موجات المحتوى الرائج قد تمنح المتلقي انطباعاً مضللاً بأن ما يشاهده يمثل رأي الأغلبية، بينما يكون في الحقيقة نتاجاً لخوارزميات رفعت من مستوى انتشاره وحضوره.
وأكد أن الترند لم يعد مجرد انعكاس لاهتمامات الناس، بل تحول في كثير من الأحيان إلى أداة تصنع الاهتمام وتحدد الأولويات، حتى بدا وكأنه يفكر بالنيابة عن المستخدمين ويقودهم إلى مسارات محددة دون وعي كامل منهم.
المنصات الرقمية شريك جديد في التربية
وتناول العرفج التأثير المتنامي لوسائل التواصل الاجتماعي في تشكيل السلوك والقيم، مبيناً أنها أصبحت في بعض الأحيان شريكاً مؤثراً في التربية والتوجيه واكتساب المعرفة، ما يستدعي تعزيز الوعي الرقمي لدى الأسر والمؤسسات التعليمية والمجتمعية.
كما تطرق إلى أثر الحضور الدائم للكاميرا في الحياة اليومية، موضحاً أن ثقافة التوثيق المستمر قلصت مساحة العفوية، وحولت كثيراً من المواقف الإنسانية إلى محتوى رقمي قابل للنشر والتداول.
الشهرة بمعايير مختلفة
وفي محور آخر، استعرض العرفج ظاهرة «غرباء الشكل»، مبيناً أن المنصات الرقمية أعادت تعريف مفهوم الشهرة، إذ انتقلت شخصيات كانت تُقدم في الماضي ضمن عروض الفرجة والسيرك إلى نجوم للمشهد الرقمي وصناع محتوى يمتلكون جماهيرية واسعة وتأثيراً كبيراً.
وأكد أن التحول الرقمي لم يغير أدوات التواصل فقط، بل أعاد تشكيل معايير الحضور والتأثير والشهرة بصورة غير مسبوقة.
الوعي الرقمي مسؤولية وطنية
وشدد العرفج على أن التعامل الواعي مع المنصات الرقمية لم يعد قضية تقنية أو معرفية فحسب، بل أصبح مسؤولية وطنية ترتبط بحماية المجتمع وتعزيز استقراره وصون قيمه الثقافية والاجتماعية.
وأوضح أن الحفاظ على الهوية الوطنية والقيم الأصيلة يتطلب فهماً أعمق لآليات عمل المنصات والخوارزميات، وقدرة على التمييز بين المعرفة والمعلومات المضللة، وبين المحتوى الذي يسهم في البناء والتنمية والمحتوى الذي يهدر الوقت ويؤثر سلباً في منظومة القيم.
ودعا إلى تعزيز التفكير النقدي واستثمار الوقت فيما يحقق الفائدة والمعرفة، مؤكداً أن بناء الإنسان الواعي يمثل خط الدفاع الأول في مواجهة التأثيرات السلبية للمحتوى الرقمي.
آل صبيح: موضوع يمس حياة الناس مباشرة
من جانبه، أوضح مدير جمعية الثقافة والفنون بجدة محمد آل صبيح أن الأمسية جاءت ضمن برنامج المعايدة السنوي الذي تنظمه الجمعية بمناسبة عيد الأضحى، بهدف المزج بين الأجواء الاحتفالية والطرح الثقافي والمعرفي الهادف.
وأكد أن اختيار موضوع «هيمنة الترند» جاء لارتباطه المباشر بحياة الناس اليومية وما يحمله من أبعاد ثقافية ووطنية، تسهم في تعزيز الوعي المجتمعي وحماية القيم وترسيخ الهوية الوطنية، مشيراً إلى الدور المهم الذي تؤديه المؤسسات الثقافية في تنمية الوعي ومواكبة التحولات المتسارعة في العالم الرقمي.

وفي ختام الأمسية، كرمت جمعية الثقافة والفنون بجدة الدكتور أحمد العرفج تقديراً لمشاركته وإسهامه في إثراء الحراك.
At a time when digital platforms are racing to capture users’ attention, and the influence of algorithms is increasing in shaping interests and public opinion, the Cultural and Arts Association in Jeddah hosted writer Dr. Ahmed Al-Orfaj last night (Saturday) in a cultural evening titled “The Dominance of Trends,” attended by a select group of intellectuals, artists, media professionals, and those interested in cultural and intellectual affairs, as part of the annual Eid al-Adha celebration organized by the association.
The evening extended for more than 4 hours, during which Al-Orfaj discussed the profound transformations brought about by digital platforms in the lives of individuals and communities, reviewing the mechanisms of creating “trends” and the role of algorithms in directing attention, influencing, and shaping behavior.
The Attention Economy.. The Battle of the Era
Al-Orfaj began his talk by explaining the concept of “trends” and the mechanisms of their spread, emphasizing that digital platforms do not operate randomly but rely on precise algorithms that monitor users’ interests and preferences, delivering content that aligns with their digital behavior.
He clarified that the world today is experiencing a phase of “attention economy,” where the real competition revolves around gaining human time and focus, indicating that the ability to capture attention grants its holders significant influence over decisions, trends, and thought patterns.
When the Minority Opinion Seems Like Everyone’s Opinion
Al-Orfaj pointed out that some waves of trending content may give the recipient a misleading impression that what they are seeing represents the opinion of the majority, while in reality, it is the result of algorithms that have elevated its level of spread and presence.
He confirmed that trends are no longer just a reflection of people’s interests but have often transformed into a tool that creates interest and sets priorities, to the extent that it seems to think on behalf of users and leads them to specific paths without their full awareness.

Al-Orfaj discussed the growing impact of social media on shaping behavior and values, indicating that it has sometimes become a significant partner in education, guidance, and knowledge acquisition, necessitating the enhancement of digital awareness among families and educational and community institutions.
He also touched on the effect of the constant presence of cameras in daily life, explaining that the culture of continuous documentation has reduced the space for spontaneity and transformed many human situations into digital content that can be published and circulated.
Fame by Different Standards
In another segment, Al-Orfaj reviewed the phenomenon of “Strangers of Appearance,” indicating that digital platforms have redefined the concept of fame, as personalities that were previously presented in shows and circuses have transitioned to become stars of the digital scene and content creators with wide audiences and significant influence.
He affirmed that digital transformation has not only changed communication tools but has also reshaped the standards of presence, influence, and fame in unprecedented ways.
Digital Awareness is a National Responsibility
Al-Orfaj emphasized that conscious engagement with digital platforms is no longer just a technical or cognitive issue but has become a national responsibility related to protecting society, enhancing its stability, and preserving its cultural and social values.
He explained that maintaining national identity and authentic values requires a deeper understanding of how platforms and algorithms work, as well as the ability to distinguish between knowledge and misleading information, and between content that contributes to building and development and content that wastes time and negatively affects the value system.
He called for enhancing critical thinking and investing time in what achieves benefit and knowledge, affirming that building a conscious individual represents the first line of defense against the negative influences of digital content.
Al-Sobaih: A Topic that Directly Affects People’s Lives
For his part, the Director of the Cultural and Arts Association in Jeddah, Mohammed Al-Sobaih, explained that the evening was part of the annual Eid al-Adha celebration program organized by the association, aimed at blending festive atmospheres with purposeful cultural and intellectual discussions.
He confirmed that the choice of the topic “The Dominance of Trends” was due to its direct connection to people’s daily lives and the cultural and national dimensions it carries, contributing to enhancing community awareness and protecting values and reinforcing national identity, pointing to the important role that cultural institutions play in developing awareness and keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the digital world.
