أعرب وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، اليوم (الأربعاء)، عن أمله أن تؤدي المفاوضات لتخلي إيران عن طموحاتها في تخصيب اليورانيوم وتسليم مخزونها عالي التخصيب.
وقال روبيو في الجلسة الثانية أمام الكونغرس اليوم: «نريد أن نرى تغييراً في إيران، وأن يحكمها الشعب، وألا تشكل تهديداً للمنطقة»، مشدداً على ضرورة أن تتوقف إيران عن دعم الإرهاب حول العالم.
وفيما يتعلق بالمفاوضات بين لبنان وإسرائيل، قال روبيو: «قادة من حكومتي لبنان وإسرائيل يجلسون حالياً في مقر وزارتنا للتفاوض، ونأمل أن يسفر اجتماعهم اليوم عن بيان وخطة عمل لمسار أمني للبنان مستقل عن حزب الله».
من جهة أخرى، قال رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو لشبكة «سي إن بي سي»: «أتفق مع ترمب على قضايا مرتبطة بإيران ونختلف أحياناً بجوانب تكتيكية لكننا نتوصل لحلول.
ترمب يدرس خيارات عدة ونتحدث مرة كل يومين»، مضيفاً: «إيران لم توافق بعد على إخراج المواد النووية لكن توجد ضغوط متزايدة».
وأشار نتنياهو إلى أنه يترك الأمر لترمب إذا لزم التصعيد، وفتح مضيق هرمز ممكن عسكرياً.
من جهة أخرى، حملت وزارة الصحة اللبنانية إسرائيل مسؤولية أي استهداف لمستشفى تبنين، موضحة أن الادعاءات الإسرائيلية بشأن مستشفى تبنين الحكومي في جنوب البلاد تهديد خطير لمنشأة صحية رسمية.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope today (Wednesday) that negotiations will lead Iran to abandon its ambitions for uranium enrichment and hand over its highly enriched stockpile.
Rubio stated in the second session before Congress today: “We want to see a change in Iran, for it to be governed by the people, and for it not to pose a threat to the region,” emphasizing the necessity for Iran to stop supporting terrorism around the world.
Regarding the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, Rubio said: “Leaders from the governments of Lebanon and Israel are currently sitting at our department to negotiate, and we hope that their meeting today will result in a statement and a plan of action for a security path for Lebanon independent of Hezbollah.”
On another note, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told CNBC: “I agree with Trump on issues related to Iran and we sometimes differ on tactical aspects, but we reach solutions.
Trump is considering several options and we talk once every two days,” adding: “Iran has not yet agreed to remove the nuclear materials, but there is increasing pressure.”
Netanyahu indicated that he leaves it to Trump if escalation is necessary, and that opening the Strait of Hormuz is militarily possible.
On another front, the Lebanese Ministry of Health held Israel responsible for any targeting of the Tebnine hospital, clarifying that the Israeli claims regarding the Tebnine government hospital in the south of the country pose a serious threat to an official health facility.
