فيما أعلنت الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية أنها لا تزال غير قادرة على الوصول إلى معظم المنشآت النووية الإيرانية، باستثناء محطة بوشهر للطاقة النووية، أكد البيت الأبيض، اليوم (الخميس)، أن أي شخص يعتقد أن إيران تمتلك اليد العليا «واهم».
وقال متحدث باسم البيت الأبيض في تصريحات صحافية: «أي شخص يعتقد أن إيران تمتلك اليد العليا واهم، أو أنه متحدث باسم الحرس الثوري».
جاء ذلك في وقت أرسلت فيه الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية التابعة للأمم المتحدة تقريراً إلى الدول الأعضاء، جددت فيه دعوتها لإيران إلى إبلاغ الوكالة على وجه السرعة بمصير مخزونها من اليورانيوم المخصب منذ قصف مواقعها النووية قبل عام، والسماح باستئناف عمليات التفتيش بشكل كامل.
وقال التقرير السري، الذي نشرت وسائل إعلام غربية مقتطفات منه: «شدد المدير العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية على إيران بأن التنفيذ الفعّال لاتفاق الضمانات بموجب معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية أمر لا غنى عنه وملحّ، ولا يمكن تعليقه تحت أي ظرف من الظروف».
وأكدت الوكالة أن لديها «مخاوف بالغة» بشأن احتمال وجود أنشطة ومواد نووية غير معلنة في إيران، لافتة إلى استمرار الفجوات في المعلومات المتعلقة ببعض المواقع والأنشطة المرتبطة بالبرنامج النووي الإيراني.
وأعربت الوكالة عن قلقها المتزايد إزاء عدم قدرتها على التحقق من حجم ومكان مخزون اليورانيوم المخصب لدى إيران، في ظل القيود المفروضة على عمليات التفتيش والوصول إلى المنشآت النووية.
وتأتي تصريحات الوكالة في وقت تشهد فيه العلاقة بين طهران والجهات الرقابية الدولية توتراً متزايداً، مع استمرار الخلافات بشأن آليات التفتيش والرقابة على الأنشطة النووية الإيرانية.
وكانت الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية قد أكدت في تقارير سابقة أن قدرتها على متابعة البرنامج النووي الإيراني تراجعت بشكل كبير خلال السنوات الأخيرة، نتيجة تقليص التعاون وفرض قيود على الوصول إلى المواقع والمنشآت النووية.
وفي غضون ذلك، أعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية أنها غيّرت مسار 127 سفينة تجارية، وعطلت 6 سفن وصفتها بأنها «مخالفة» للحصار الأمريكي على الموانئ الإيرانية، مشيرة إلى أنها سمحت بمرور 36 سفينة مساعدات.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has announced that it is still unable to access most Iranian nuclear facilities, except for the Bushehr nuclear power plant. The White House confirmed today (Thursday) that anyone who believes Iran has the upper hand is “delusional.”
A White House spokesperson stated in press remarks: “Anyone who thinks Iran has the upper hand is delusional, or they are a spokesperson for the Revolutionary Guard.”
This came at a time when the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency sent a report to member states, renewing its call for Iran to promptly inform the agency about the fate of its enriched uranium stockpile since the bombing of its nuclear sites a year ago, and to allow for a full resumption of inspections.
The confidential report, excerpts of which were published by Western media, stated: “The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency emphasized to Iran that the effective implementation of safeguards under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons is essential and urgent, and cannot be suspended under any circumstances.”
The agency confirmed that it has “serious concerns” regarding the possibility of undeclared nuclear activities and materials in Iran, noting the continued gaps in information related to certain sites and activities associated with the Iranian nuclear program.
The agency expressed increasing concern over its inability to verify the quantity and location of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, given the restrictions imposed on inspections and access to nuclear facilities.
The agency’s statements come at a time when tensions are rising between Tehran and international oversight bodies, with ongoing disagreements over inspection and monitoring mechanisms for Iranian nuclear activities.
The International Atomic Energy Agency had previously confirmed in reports that its ability to monitor the Iranian nuclear program has significantly declined in recent years due to reduced cooperation and restrictions on access to nuclear sites and facilities.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command announced that it has redirected 127 commercial vessels and disrupted 6 ships it described as “violating” the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, noting that it allowed the passage of 36 aid vessels.
