وجاءت الواقعة قبل انطلاق المباراة وأثناء عزف النشيد الوطني الأمريكي، إذ عرضت شاشات الملعب صورة ترمب أمام عشرات الآلاف من المشجعين، إلا أن رد الفعل الجماهيري جاء مفاجئاً، إذ ارتفعت أصوات الاستهجان من قطاعات واسعة من الحضور، في لقطة التقطتها عدسات وسائل الإعلام وتداولتها منصات التواصل الاجتماعي على نطاق واسع.
وخلال المباراة نجح فريق سان أنطونيو سبيرز في تحقيق فوز ثمين على أرضه أمام نيويورك نيكس بنتيجة 115-111، وبهذا الفوز قلّص سبيرز الفارق في السلسلة إلى 2-1 لصالح نيكس، إذ من المقرر أن تقام المباراة الرابعة في نيويورك، وسط ترقب كبير لمعرفة ما إذا كان نيكس سيحسم اللقب أم أن سبيرز سيُعيد السلسلة إلى التعادل.

During the game, the San Antonio Spurs managed to secure a valuable home victory against the New York Knicks with a score of 115-111. With this win, the Spurs narrowed the series gap to 2-1 in favor of the Knicks, as the fourth game is scheduled to take place in New York, amid great anticipation to see whether the Knicks will clinch the title or if the Spurs will bring the series back to a tie.
