أعلن نادي وولفرهامبتون، اليوم (الخميس)، إقالة مدربه روب إدواردز بعد الهبوط من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز «بريميرليغ».
نتائج مخيبة للآمال
وكان وولفرهامبتون قد تعاقد مع المدرب الويلزي في نوفمبر الماضي بعقد مدته ثلاثة مواسم ونصف الموسم، لكن المدرب لم يتمكن من إنعاش حظوظ الفريق، إذ أنهى الموسم في قاع جدول الترتيب برصيد 20 نقطة بعد ثلاثة انتصارات فقط في 38 مباراة.
بيان وولفرهامبتون
وقال النادي في بيان عبر موقعه الإلكتروني: «انفصل نادي وولفرهامبتون عن مدربه الرئيسي روب إدواردز وطاقمه المعاون».
وأضاف البيان: «عاد إدواردز إلى وولفرهامبتون في نوفمبر في واحدة من أكثر الفترات تحدياً في تاريخ النادي الحديث، وعمل بلا كلل، جنباً إلى جنب مع طاقمه، لتحقيق الاستقرار في العمليات الكروية والمساعدة في دفع النادي إلى الأمام».
وتابع: «بعد مراجعة شاملة في نهاية الموسم، قرر النادي أن تغيير القيادة ضروري مع دخول وولفرهامبتون المرحلة التالية من تطوره، وبينما يدرك النادي التحديات الكبيرة التي واجهها إدواردز وفريقه خلال فترة ولايتهم، ويعترف بالالتزام والاحترافية التي أظهروها طوال الوقت، فقد خلص في النهاية إلى أن التوجه الرياضي المختلف سيوفر أقوى منصة للنجاح في المستقبل».
وختم بيان النادي الإنجليزي: «بدأت بالفعل عملية تعيين مدرب جديد، حيث يركز النادي على اختيار قائد قادر على قيادة المرحلة التالية من التطور الرياضي لفريق وولفرهامبتون، على أن نقدم المزيد من التحديثات في الوقت المناسب».
Wolverhampton Wanderers announced today (Thursday) the dismissal of their coach Rob Edwards following their relegation from the Premier League.
Disappointing Results
Wolverhampton had hired the Welsh coach last November on a contract lasting three and a half seasons, but the coach was unable to revive the team’s fortunes, finishing the season at the bottom of the table with 20 points after only three wins in 38 matches.
Wolverhampton’s Statement
The club stated in a release on its website: “Wolverhampton Wanderers has parted ways with head coach Rob Edwards and his staff.”
The statement added: “Edwards returned to Wolverhampton in November during one of the most challenging periods in the club’s modern history, and he worked tirelessly, alongside his staff, to stabilize the football operations and help push the club forward.”
It continued: “After a thorough review at the end of the season, the club has determined that a change in leadership is necessary as Wolverhampton enters the next phase of its development. While the club acknowledges the significant challenges faced by Edwards and his team during their tenure and recognizes the commitment and professionalism they displayed throughout, it ultimately concluded that a different sporting direction would provide the strongest platform for future success.”
The English club’s statement concluded: “The process of appointing a new head coach has already begun, as the club focuses on selecting a leader capable of guiding the next phase of Wolverhampton’s sporting development, with further updates to be provided in due course.”
