وكان اللاعب حمزة عبدالكريم، قد دخل المستطيل الأخضر مع منتخب بلاده بعد التغيير الذي أجراه مدرب «الفراعنة» حسام حسن مع اللاعب محمد صلاح، في الدقيقة 76، ليصبح أصغر لاعب مصري وعربي يشارك في مباراة مع منتخب بلاده في المونديال، فيما عربياً، حطم عبدالكريم، رقم المغربي بلال الخنوس الذي شارك مع منتخب بلاده في مونديال قطر 2022، في سن 18 عاماً وسبعة أشهر.
