With his distinctive elegant attire, he stands firm throughout the matches, enduring up to 120 full minutes if necessary, raising his right arm in salute to the first Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Patrice Lumumba, and to his famous memorial.
As this fan’s popularity grows and football fans around the world admire him, he was selected as part of the official delegation accompanying his national team in the World Cup.
However, while Yuan Wissa scored the first goal for the Democratic Republic of Congo in World Cup history during the match that ended in a 1-1 draw against Portugal, Mbouladinga was absent from the scene.
The Ebola outbreak that led to his quarantine was caused by a rare strain of the virus, with a mortality rate among those infected of about 25%.
