لا يخسر المنتخب السعودي عندما يتراجع مستوى لاعب في مباراة، لكنه يخسر كثيرًا عندما يتحول ذلك التراجع إلى مناسبة لتصفية الحسابات بين جماهير الأندية.
هذا ما حدث عقب انخفاض مستوى النجم سالم الدوسري في إحدى مباريات المنتخب السعودي، حيث تعرض لموجة واسعة من الانتقادات والهجوم تجاوزت حدود النقد الفني المشروع إلى حالة من الاستهداف المنظم، كشفت مجددًا عن مشكلة أعمق تعاني منها الرياضة السعودية منذ سنوات طويلة.
المشكلة أن بعض الجماهير لا تزال تنظر إلى لاعب المنتخب من خلال لون قميص ناديه قبل أن تنظر إليه بوصفه ممثلًا للوطن. وعندما يتراجع مستواه أو يرتكب خطأً داخل الملعب، يجد نفسه في مواجهة حملات يقودها متعصبون من أندية منافسة، وكأن حسابات المنافسة المحلية لم تتوقف عند حدود الدوري والبطولات المحلية، بل امتدت إلى المنتخب الذي يفترض أن يكون مساحة جامعة لكل السعوديين.
وما يزيد من خطورة الظاهرة أن بعض الإعلاميين يشاركون فيها بصورة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة. فبدلًا من تقديم قراءة فنية موضوعية للأداء، ينجرف البعض خلف الميول والانتماءات، فيقدم رسائل تؤجج الانقسام وتغذي مشاعر الاحتقان بين الجماهير. وعندما تصدر هذه الرسائل من شخصيات إعلامية مؤثرة فإنها تمنح التعصب شرعية غير مستحقة وتفتح الباب أمام حملات الإساءة والتنمر.
ومن الناحية النفسية، فإن اللاعب الدولي لا يخوض المباراة بقدراته البدنية والفنية فقط، بل يحتاج كذلك إلى بيئة تمنحه الثقة والدعم. أما عندما يشعر أنه مستهدف بسبب انتمائه لنادٍ معين، فإنه يدخل الملعب تحت ضغط مضاعف، ويصبح أكثر خوفًا من الخطأ وأكثر ترددًا في اتخاذ القرار. وقد أثبتت دراسات علم النفس الرياضي أن الضغوط الجماهيرية والإعلامية المفرطة تؤثر بشكل مباشر على التركيز والثقة بالنفس والقدرة على الإبداع داخل الملعب.
والأخطر من ذلك أن آثار هذه الحملات لا تتوقف عند اللاعب المستهدف، بل تمتد إلى بقية عناصر المنتخب. فكل لاعب يشاهد حجم الهجوم الذي يتعرض له زميله يدرك أنه قد يكون الضحية التالية عند أول تعثر، الأمر الذي يخلق بيئة من القلق والحذر المفرط لا تساعد على صناعة الإنجاز أو تحقيق الطموحات الوطنية.
ولعل ما تعرض له سالم الدوسري ليس سوى حلقة جديدة في مسلسل قديم. فقد عانى لاعبون كثر من مختلف الأندية من الهجمات ذاتها عبر العقود الماضية، وكان القاسم المشترك بينها جميعًا هو تقديم الانتماء للنادي على الانتماء للوطن، حتى أصبح بعض اللاعبين يدفعون ثمن ألوان قمصانهم أكثر مما يدفعون ثمن أخطائهم الفنية.

إن معالجة هذه الظاهرة تبدأ من ترسيخ قناعة بسيطة مفادها أن المنافسة بين الأندية تنتهي عند حدود البطولات المحلية، أما المنتخب فهو كيان وطني يمثل الجميع. كما أن الإعلام الرياضي مطالب اليوم أكثر من أي وقت مضى بأن يكون جزءًا من الحل لا جزءًا من المشكلة، من خلال ترسيخ ثقافة النقد المهني ورفض الإساءة والتحريض والتشهير.
كذلك فإن الاتحاد السعودي لكرة القدم والجهات الرياضية المختلفة مدعوة إلى إطلاق برامج توعوية تستهدف الجماهير والإعلاميين على حد سواء، وتؤكد أن اللاعب الدولي يمثل الوطن قبل أي انتماء آخر، وأن دعمه ومساندته مسؤولية وطنية قبل أن تكون رياضية.
لقد نجحت دول كثيرة في بناء منتخبات قوية لأنها صنعت حول لاعبيها بيئة داعمة تمنحهم الثقة وتحميهم من حملات الاستهداف. أما نحن فما زلنا أحيانًا نسمح للتعصب بأن يطغى على المصلحة الوطنية، وللون النادي بأن يسبق لون الوطن.
فالمنتخب لا يحتاج إلى جماهير تشجع لاعبي أنديتها فقط، بل يحتاج إلى جماهير تؤمن أن الشعار الأخضر يذيب كل الألوان الأخرى. وحين يصبح الوطن هو الانتماء الأول، تتحول المنافسة المحلية إلى مصدر قوة للمنتخب لا إلى معول هدم في جسده، وعندها فقط يمكن للكرة السعودية أن تستفيد من كامل طاقات نجومها وأن تحقق ما تطمح إليه جماهيرها.

Instead of providing an objective technical analysis of the performance, some get swept away by biases and affiliations, sending messages that fuel division and nurture feelings of tension among fans. When these messages come from influential media personalities, they grant undue legitimacy to fanaticism and open the door to campaigns of abuse and bullying.
From a psychological perspective, the international player does not enter the match solely with his physical and technical abilities; he also needs an environment that gives him confidence and support. However, when he feels targeted because of his affiliation with a specific club, he enters the field under compounded pressure, becoming more fearful of making mistakes and more hesitant in decision-making. Studies in sports psychology have shown that excessive public and media pressure directly affects concentration, self-confidence, and the ability to be creative on the field.
Even more dangerously, the effects of these campaigns do not stop at the targeted player but extend to the rest of the national team members. Every player who sees the extent of the attack on his teammate realizes that he could be the next victim at the first stumble, creating an environment of anxiety and excessive caution that does not help in achieving success or fulfilling national aspirations.
What happened to Salem Al-Dosari is merely a new episode in an old series. Many players from various clubs have suffered similar attacks over the past decades, with the common denominator being the prioritization of club allegiance over national allegiance, to the point that some players pay the price for their jersey colors more than they pay for their technical mistakes.
In major tournaments, the world does not ask about the club the player came from, but rather about the country he represents. When the player succeeds, the successes are recorded in the name of the nation, and when he stumbles, the failures are counted against the entire national team. Therefore, any abuse directed at a national team player because of his sports affiliation does not harm him alone; it weakens the team and diminishes its chances of success.
Addressing this phenomenon begins with establishing a simple conviction that competition among clubs ends at the boundaries of local championships, while the national team is a national entity that represents everyone. Additionally, the sports media is more than ever required to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, by promoting a culture of professional critique and rejecting abuse, incitement, and defamation.
Moreover, the Saudi Football Federation and various sports entities are called upon to launch awareness programs targeting both fans and media figures, emphasizing that the international player represents the nation before any other affiliation, and that supporting and backing him is a national responsibility before it is a sporting one.
Many countries have succeeded in building strong national teams because they created a supportive environment around their players that gives them confidence and protects them from targeting campaigns. As for us, we sometimes still allow fanaticism to overshadow national interest, and the club’s colors to take precedence over the nation’s color.
The national team does not need fans who only cheer for their club players; it needs fans who believe that the green emblem melts away all other colors. When the nation becomes the primary allegiance, local competition transforms into a source of strength for the national team rather than a destructive force within it, and only then can Saudi football benefit from the full potential of its stars and achieve what its fans aspire to.
