الليلة أجواء سعودية مفعمة بالأمل، وفي الوقت نفسه يرافقها شيء من الخوف، ومثلما يقولون: «من خاف سلم». فمواجهة منتخبنا الوطني أمام منتخب إسبانيا، ينظر إليها من الناحية الفنية وفوارق التفوق، على أنها مواجهة صعبة؛ إذ لا بد من الاعتراف بأنها لن تكون مباراة سهلة على الأخضر.
-الحصول على نقطة واحدة أمام منتخب ثقيل، مرصّع بالنجوم، مهمة صعبة، فإن تحققت فهي إنجاز يفتح أمام كل مواطن سعودي أبواب الأمل إلى حد ما، ولا أقول: أملًا كبيرًا. أما إذا جاءت النتيجة مخالفة لكل التوقعات، بانتصار سعودي وحصد ثلاث نقاط، فلا شيء «مستحيل» في عالم هذه «المدوّرة» المجنونة.
-أقرب مثال لا يمكن أن يُنسى هو الفوز الذي حققه منتخبنا في مونديال قطر على منتخب الأرجنتين، الذي كان مرشحًا لحصد اللقب، وبالفعل حققه، وكذلك شاهدنا مفاجأة منتخب الرأس الأخضر وتعادله السلبي الذي فاق كل التوقعات والحسابات، منتخب يشارك للمرة الأولى في نهائيات كأس العالم، وإنجازاته لا تُذكر مقارنة بخصمه في تلك المباراة، ولا حتى مقارنة بالمنتخب السعودي، ومع ذلك تمكن من الخروج بنتيجة مرضية ومشرفة، لأن قاموس كرة القدم يقول: «لا مستحيل» في عالمها الممتع والمثير والغريب.
-ماذا يمنع أن تحدث المفاجأة ويتعادل منتخبنا اليوم أو يفوز على إسبانيا، فقد تنخفض وتتقلص وتذوب كل الفوارق بينك وبين خصمك، مهما كانت قوته، إذا امتلكت عاملًا مهمًا وهو «الثقة» بالنفس. وهذا ما كان موجودًا لدى لاعبي منتخب الرأس الأخضر، وهو العامل نفسه الذي توفر لدى لاعبي المنتخب السعودي حين انتصروا على منتخب الأرجنتين.
-لكن هذا العامل وحده لا يكفي؛ إنما يحتاج إلى اللعب بروح «قتالية وجدية» وعدم الاستهانة بالخصم، واستغلال نقاط ضعفه، والحد قدر الإمكان من خطورة نقاط قوته الفعالة والمؤثرة.
-من حقي ككاتب وناقد رياضي سعودي أن أطرق باب «التفاؤل» عبر لمسة تفتح أمامي نافذتين: إما التعادل أو الفوز. ولكن ـ وهنا أضع ألف خط تحت كلمة «لكن» ـ وفق رؤية تحمل في داخلها شيئًا من المخاوف، التي تدعوني إلى إطلاق جرس «الإنذار» المبكر، محذرًا من أخطاء قاتلة يجب الانتباه إليها، وأخذ كل الاحتياطات اللازمة لعدم الوقوع فيها، فمن السهل جدًا تجنب مخاطرها من قبل المدرب واللاعبين، لو.. وما أدراك ما «لو»، حتى لو قيل عنها ما قيل.
-مخاوفي من الأخطاء القاتلة تكمن في لحظة حماس غير محسوبة العواقب من لاعب يحصل على بطاقة حمراء، فيتسبب هذا الطرد في تغيير مجرى المباراة لمصلحة المنتخب الإسباني.
أو ركلة جزاء محتسبة في وقت حساس لمصلحة الأخضر، ثم يتم إهدارها بسبب سوء التنفيذ، ويا خوفي من أن يصر الكابتن سالم الدوسري على تسديدها فتضيع فرصة ذهبية لا تعوض، تحرم منتخبنا من نقطة أو من ثلاث نقاط.
-ولا يمكن لمخاوفي أن تتجاهل خطأ قاتلًا من حكام المباراة، سواءً من حكم الساحة أو تقنية الفيديو «VAR»، يؤدي إلى قرار تحكيمي «مؤثر» قد يغيّر مسار المباراة ويحرم الأخضر من فرصة كان يستحقها وبالتالي يقضي على آمال الأخضر، ويحرمه من حقه المشروع، ويغلق أبواب الأمل التي كانت مفتوحة له لو تعادل أو فاز، مع أن هناك من سيقول: لا تنسَ أن لمنتخبنا مباراة أخيرة يوم السبت المقبل، فقد تكون الحاسمة في تحديد هوية المتأهل إلى دور الـ32، وفي المقابل ستدخل في حسابات «لو» وحبايبها.
-أما آخر المخاوف، فهي مرتبطة بذاكرة لا تزال تستحضر تجربة المدرب القدير السيد دونيس، الذي أفرحنا في شوط وأحزننا في شوط آخر، بسبب قرارات خاطئة ارتكبها في الحصة الثانية من المباراة، فقد كانت طريقة اللعب في الشوط الأول مثالية، وطبقها اللاعبون بأداء مميز، لكنه غيّرها إلى خطة دفاعية أرهقت الأخضر، وكادت أن تحول نتيجة التعادل في مباراته أمام الأوروغواي إلى هزيمة.
-ولا يفوتني كذلك الحديث عن تغييراته التي أراها كانت أخطاء مؤثرة وقاتلة؛ إذ افتقدت إلى قراءة جيدة للخصم من جهة، وإلى قراءة أفضل لفريقه من جهة أخرى، وإلى الشجاعة في اتخاذ القرار بشأن اللاعب الأنسب الذي كان من الممكن أن يساهم في تغيير نتيجة المباراة فوزًا أو المحافظة عليها.
-الأمل كبير أن يقدم منتخبنا السعودي هذا المساء مباراة ممتعة خالية من الأخطاء «القاتلة»، صحيح أننا نتمناها فوزًا أو تعادلًا، ولكن إن حدث العكس وفاز المنتخب الإسباني، فالمهم أن يقدم الأخضر مباراة كبيرة، لم يحالفه فيها الحظ أو التوفيق، فيخرج مرفوع الرأس.
-هذه رؤيتي ككاتب وناقد رياضي، وليست كرؤية «المتخصصين» في التحليل الرياضي؛ لأنني أرى أحيانًا من خلال متابعتي تلفزيونيًا البعض منهم لا فرق بينهم وبين الإعلامي «بتاع كله» الدكتور توفيق عكاشة، كلهم أضعهم في ميزان واحد: مرة تصيب وعشر مرات تخيب.
Tonight, the atmosphere in Saudi Arabia is filled with hope, while at the same time accompanied by a bit of fear. As they say, “He who fears, is safe.” The match between our national team and the Spanish team is viewed from a technical perspective and the differences in superiority as a difficult encounter; we must admit that it will not be an easy match for the Green.
-Getting a single point against a heavy team, studded with stars, is a tough task. If achieved, it opens the doors of hope for every Saudi citizen to some extent, though I wouldn’t say it’s a great hope. However, if the result defies all expectations with a Saudi victory and three points, then nothing is “impossible” in this crazy “round” world.
-The closest unforgettable example is the victory our team achieved in the Qatar World Cup against the Argentine team, which was a favorite to win the title, and indeed it did. We also witnessed the surprise of the Cape Verde team with its unexpected goalless draw that exceeded all expectations and calculations. A team participating for the first time in the World Cup finals, with achievements that are negligible compared to its opponent in that match, and not even compared to the Saudi team. Yet, it managed to come out with a satisfactory and honorable result because the football dictionary says: “Nothing is impossible” in its enjoyable, exciting, and strange world.
-What prevents a surprise from happening today, where our team draws or wins against Spain? All differences between you and your opponent can diminish, shrink, and dissolve, no matter how strong they are, if you possess an important factor: “self-confidence.” This was present in the Cape Verde players, and it was the same factor that the Saudi players had when they defeated the Argentine team.
-But this factor alone is not enough; it needs to be accompanied by a “fighting and serious” spirit, not underestimating the opponent, exploiting their weaknesses, and minimizing the danger of their effective and influential strengths as much as possible.
-As a Saudi writer and sports critic, I have the right to knock on the door of “optimism” through a touch that opens two windows for me: either a draw or a win. However — and here I underline the word “but” — according to a vision that carries within it some fears, which prompt me to sound the early “alarm bell,” warning of fatal mistakes that must be heeded, and taking all necessary precautions to avoid them. It is very easy for the coach and players to avoid their risks if… and what do you know about “if,” even if it is said what is said.
-My fears of fatal mistakes lie in a moment of uncalculated enthusiasm from a player receiving a red card, causing this expulsion to change the course of the match in favor of the Spanish team.
Or a penalty awarded at a sensitive time in favor of the Green, which is then wasted due to poor execution. I fear that Captain Salem Al-Dawsari insists on taking it, leading to a golden opportunity being missed, depriving our team of one point or three points.
-My fears cannot ignore a fatal mistake from the match officials, whether from the field referee or the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), leading to an “influential” refereeing decision that could change the course of the match and deny the Green a deserved opportunity, thus extinguishing their hopes and depriving them of their legitimate right, closing the doors of hope that were open to them if they drew or won. Although some may say: Don’t forget that our team has a final match next Saturday, which could be decisive in determining who advances to the Round of 32, and in return, it will enter into “if” calculations and their loved ones.
-As for my last fears, they are linked to a memory that still recalls the experience of the capable coach Mr. Donis, who made us happy in one half and saddened us in another, due to wrong decisions he made in the second half of the match. The playing style in the first half was ideal, and the players executed it with distinguished performance, but he changed it to a defensive plan that exhausted the Green, nearly turning the draw in his match against Uruguay into a defeat.
-I also cannot overlook his substitutions, which I see as influential and fatal mistakes; they lacked a good reading of the opponent on one hand, a better reading of his team on the other, and the courage to make the decision regarding the most suitable player who could have contributed to changing the match result for a win or preserving it.
-There is great hope that our Saudi team presents an enjoyable match tonight, free from “fatal” mistakes. Indeed, we wish for a win or a draw, but if the opposite happens and the Spanish team wins, what matters is that the Green delivers a great match, where luck or fortune did not favor them, leaving with their heads held high.
