The General Transport Authority has allowed licensed establishments in the light goods transport activity for commercial purposes (for the benefit of the establishment) to own light transport vehicles to transport their goods in accordance with their operational needs, without a maximum limit on the number of vehicles. This is a qualitative step aimed at supporting and empowering economic activities that rely on transport as part of their operational processes, and enabling the growth of those establishments’ businesses.
The Authority stated that the initiative includes establishments engaged in commercial activities that require transport operations related to their businesses; among them are the sectors of industry, agriculture, livestock, contracting, and other commercial activities, which grants them greater flexibility in aligning the size of their light transport vehicle fleet with the nature of their work and operational needs.
The Authority confirmed that the initiative contributes to enhancing the efficiency of goods transport operations, improving the quality of services provided, and expanding the options available to establishments to meet their transport service needs, thereby supporting the smooth flow of goods, keeping pace with the growth of economic activities, and enhancing the efficiency of supply chains in the Kingdom.
