The Romanian coach of Al Sadd, Razvan Lucescu, emphasized the importance of achieving victory in the match against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium as part of the second round of the Western Phase of the AFC Champions League for elite football.
Al Sadd enters the match after losing away to Esteghlal with a score of (0-3) at the beginning of their campaign, while Al Hilal won against Al Gharafa with a score of two to one in the same first round.
Lucescu stated during a press conference that Al Sadd is facing an important match in a continental tournament that includes the best teams in Asia, adding that the focus is on appearing as required and returning to the path of victories. Regarding the frequent goals conceded by Al Sadd in some matches, he said: “We are developing from one match to another, and we need to focus on improving our defensive aspects. During our journey in some matches, we scored six goals, but we conceded three, and this happens sometimes due to individual errors. In any case, we are working to address the negatives.”
He revealed the absence of the team’s duo, Guilherme Torres and Marcelo Brozovic, due to injury, indicating the possibility of goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham returning to participate with the team after recovering from an injury he sustained during the Qatar national team’s gathering before the last Gulf Cup.
For his part, Brazilian player Paulo Otavio of Al Sadd expressed his team’s eagerness to appear as required and exert their utmost effort to achieve victory and collect the first three points to compensate for the loss in the first round, confirming that playing the match at home and among their fans motivates the players to give their best.
