Ang Postecoglou, the coach of Al-Nassr, expressed his great happiness after watching his team regain their balance with a distinguished performance, achieving a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor in the 2026-2027 AFC Champions League.
The performance that Al-Nassr delivered at the first stadium was completely different from what the team showed in the first round, when they lost 0-4 to Al-Ain of the UAE, which prompted Postecoglou to praise his players’ reaction.
Postecoglou said in the press conference following the match, which was covered by the official website of the Asian Football Confederation: “We achieved an important victory, and the players showed great professionalism and delivered a remarkable performance.”
He added: “Unfortunately, Koman was injured, which made me anxious about the team and the players and feel tense during the match, but in the end, I am happy with what the players delivered and the overall performance of the team.”
On the other hand, Islambek Ismailov, the coach of Pakhtakor, praised his players’ efforts despite the loss, saying: “I thank our players for their efforts; they gave everything they had and fought until the end. One match does not determine the future of the team, and we still have many matches ahead of us. We have a league match in three days, and we must focus on what lies ahead.”
Ismailov added: “We review our mistakes after every match, even when we win, and we prepare for each encounter differently by studying the opponents and choosing the appropriate lineup and tactical approach.”
He concluded his remarks by saying: “Facing big teams like Al-Nassr provides us with valuable lessons, and today we learned several things that we need to work on developing. Football is full of surprises, and that is what makes it exciting.”
