Qatar’s Al Rayyan coach Vicente Moreno attributed his team’s 2-1 loss to Al Taawoun in the AFC Champions League to a poor start in the first half, confirming that the improved performance in the second half was not enough to change the result.
Moreno began his remarks at the press conference by congratulating Al Taawoun on their victory, saying: “We did not start the match well, but we came back better in the second half, and we were not lucky.”
He added that Al Rayyan could have achieved victory, but that losing is part of football, noting that the team’s focus will shift to the next match and moving past this result.
The Spanish coach confirmed that Al Taawoun’s victory was not surprising, explaining: “We know Al Taawoun well, but we had a bad day. Our players wanted to win, but things did not go as we wanted.”
