Lisandro Martinez has ignited a crisis within Manchester United after a fiery attack on the management following the 0-2 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the second round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
The Argentine defender did not hold back, publicly criticizing the lack of support for the team in the summer despite qualifying for the Champions League, directing his arrows straight at head coach Jason Wilcox and calling for greater investment.
Hours after his shocking statements, Martinez posted a message attempting to contain the anger, confirming that he spoke “out of anger and frustration,” emphasizing that he lives football with great passion and pain when a team as big as United loses.
Despite his softened tone and reiterating his trust in his teammates and coach Michael Carrick, the Argentine did not apologize but instead held on to a message of ambition, stating that he wants to see United competing for the biggest titles and believes they have everything needed to compete at the highest level.
