It is not Yemen’s fate to remain a prisoner of militias, nor to have its rich history turned into a footnote in a project coming from beyond its borders. This country, which is associated with wisdom and civilization, deserves a state that preserves the dignity of its people, protects the future of its children, and opens the doors of life for them, instead of surrounding them with fear, poverty, and war.
When Yemenis reject oppression, they reclaim a fundamental right to live freely in their homeland, secure for themselves and their families, able to express their opinions without fearing arrest or betrayal. They have the right to rid themselves of those who have seized their state, squandered their resources, and made loyalty to a group a criterion that supersedes competence, citizenship, and law.
The oppression of men is not a fleeting phrase. It is the pain of a father who cannot provide for his children’s sustenance, the bitterness of an employee waiting for his rights, and the sorrow of a student whose paths to the future are narrowing. It is the fear of a mother for her son, that he may become fuel for a conflict he has no control over, and the anguish of a citizen when he sees weapons rise above the judiciary, and the voice of terrorism overshadow the voice of truth.
It is time for Yemen to emerge from the folly of the rule of terrorist militias, to reclaim its institutions from the grip of the Houthis and those behind them, and to reject guardianship, regardless of its source. The honorable will not accept for the sovereignty of their country to remain hostage to the connections of a group, nor for the interests of Yemenis to become a postponed detail in the calculations of the interests of some benefiting states.
There must be a popular uprising that opens the door to salvation, unites everyone around the restoration of the state, and protects them from being dragged into a new vendetta. It draws its strength from the unity of demands, the courage of words, mutual support among citizens, and the rejection of turning political differences into enmity among the children of one homeland.
Free Yemenis have the right to their country’s future. They should not be reduced to a power imposed upon them, nor should they bear the responsibility for its actions. Fair accountability should be directed at those who committed the crime or ordered it, with evidence and judicial procedures that safeguard the security and rights of the innocent.
The restoration of the state begins with a clear vision of what comes after the end of tyranny… institutions that serve the citizen, an independent judiciary, weapons that fall under the authority of a responsible national power, public resources spent transparently, schools that teach children to think and learn, and allow them to dream of a future that accommodates their ambitions.
This path also requires Arab and international responsibility that prioritizes the lives of Yemenis, supports opportunities for just peace, protects civilians, aids the economy and services, holds accountable those who violate rights, and aspires to a state with an independent decision. Yemen needs partners who help it rise and respect the will of its people.
The state of history, civilization, and wisdom is capable of regaining its freedoms when the will of its children converges on a national project that encompasses them all. A future that does not depend on the approval of armed groups, the permission of factions, or the interests of mercenaries.
This is the Yemen that its people deserve, a homeland that regains its decision, justly treats its children, and grants them the opportunity to live in peace.
