A statement was issued today (Wednesday) by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, which stated:
The actions of the terrorist Houthi militia in targeting civilians and civilian facilities in our brotherly Yemen, and the resulting disruption of security, division of unity, and aggression against the safe and sacred, along with their heinous attempts to target the two holy cities, Mecca and Medina, constitute terrorism by all standards; revealing the extent to which this militia has descended into terrorism and audacity against the sanctities of God. Their threat is no less than that of extremist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda, and in fact, it surpasses them in corruption on earth and aggression against Muslims. Their targeting of those who seek the Sacred House of God and the Mosque of His Messenger, peace be upon him, is a greater sin and aggression. However, Allah, the Exalted, has turned their plot back upon themselves, aided by the vigilance of the Saudi air defense and the efficiency of the Saudi armed forces.
The General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars affirms that these criminal acts fall under the general statement of Allah, the Exalted: (The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to spread corruption in the land is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land) [Al-Ma’idah: 33], and His statement: (And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And Allah does not like corruption) [Al-Baqarah: 205]. The crimes of this militia encompass various forms of aggression, the first being the violation of the sanctity of innocent lives, followed by the violation of the sanctity of property, then the violation of the sanctity of security and stability, and an attempt to violate the sanctity of the Muslims’ holy sites, which Allah has honored and commanded to be honored.
Based on the above; it is the duty of all Muslims to denounce the actions of this terrorist militia and stand united against those who attack their sanctities, in compliance with the words of Allah, the Exalted: (And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in punishment) [Al-Ma’idah: 2], and His statement: (And the believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those are the ones whom Allah will have mercy upon. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise) [At-Tawbah: 71].
