The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has revealed that approximately seven million square meters of vacant land in the regions of Tabuk, Hail, and Jazan have entered development or trading pathways, as part of the results of implementing the white land and vacant property fee system, and efforts aimed at enhancing the utilization of land within urban boundaries.
The ministry clarified that the areas included 5.3 million square meters that have entered the trading phase, and 466 thousand square meters that have been developed, while the land under development amounts to about 1.3 million square meters; reflecting the role of fees in motivating landowners to develop unused assets and accelerate their trading in the real estate market.
It indicated that the revenues from the white land fees have contributed to supporting 21 housing projects in the three regions, as part of the ministry’s approach to utilize these revenues to enhance infrastructure readiness and boost the implementation of housing projects.
The ministry affirmed its continued efforts to encourage the development of unused land and accelerate its integration into the urban development cycle, contributing to improving land use efficiency, increasing real estate and housing supply, and supporting the balance between supply and demand.
It is worth noting that the ministry had previously announced that the total areas of land that have entered development or trading pathways in several regions of the Kingdom amounted to approximately 286 million square meters; including 146 million square meters in the Eastern Province, 71 million in the Riyadh region, 28 million in the Makkah region, 19 million in the Madinah region, 15 million in the Qassim region, in addition to seven million square meters in the Asir region.
