I am always struck by the letters from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with their steadfastness in position and clarity in language, away from allusions and metaphors that leave the recipient at the doors of interpretation and deviation.

I find that the strength of the Saudi political statement lies in the fact that the importance of words does not stop at what they say, but extends to what they choose as priorities and what ideas they present. When you read the statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Minister of Defense, and representatives of the countries of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense to Tehran, you find that the most prominent idea is not just the visit itself, but what the Kingdom seeks through it: de-escalation, opening channels for negotiation, and reaching an agreement that ends the crisis and preserves the security and stability of the region.

What is striking in the statement is that it begins by affirming the Kingdom’s role in establishing dialogue and regional and international peace, then moves on to the details of the political move, reaching the desired goal. This progression gives the text its clarity and coherence; it places the visit in its context, links it to a specific objective, and then broadens the circle to include the responsibility of the concerned countries in making peace.

In a linguistic reading of the statement, actions emerge that go beyond their direct connotations; “de-escalation” expresses dealing with danger before it expands, and “encouraging dialogue” opens the door to understanding, while “opening channels for negotiation” shifts the idea from a desire for a solution to working for it. We are faced with a calm political language, yet clear in its purpose; it does not merely describe the crisis but points to the path that should lead to its end.

From a rhetorical perspective, the vocabulary of dialogue, diplomacy, peace, security, and stability recurs, creating a semantic field where words support a central idea. Here, dialogue is not a separate goal, and diplomacy is not merely a protocol means, but a path to reach an agreement that prevents the return of military escalation. This relationship between means and results is what gives the statement its coherence and strength.

The reference to the efforts of the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan emphasizes that reaching a solution requires the integration of initiatives, and the call for the parties in the crisis to engage “positively and practically” carries an important connotation; positivity alone is not enough unless it transforms into tangible steps, and intentions do not create an agreement unless supported by responsible decisions.

The conclusion of the statement reaffirms once again the pivotal role of the countries of the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense in stabilizing the region and working with all countries to achieve peace. Thus, the text transitions from a specific move to a broader framework of shared responsibility, placing the visit within a continuous effort to protect the security of the region.

What I like about this statement is that its language does not seek excitement, nor does it need loud phrases to convey its position. Its strength lies in the arrangement of ideas, in the transition from initiative to negotiation, from negotiation to agreement, and from agreement to security and stability. It is a language that understands that the value of a political position does not stop at its announcement but extends to what it can achieve.

The most important phrase in the statement is not merely the call for dialogue, but linking dialogue to an agreement that ends the crisis and prevents the return of escalation. Here, the purpose becomes clear, and peace becomes more than a wish; it becomes a political path that requires the will of the parties and their serious engagement with the available opportunity.

This is the essence of the Saudi message: that the region does not need to manage its crises indefinitely, but rather needs solutions that end them, protect its peoples from their recurrence, and give stability a real chance to continue.

In conclusion, every time I read a Saudi political speech, I find that strength lies in language and meaning, and in the diplomacy supported by steadfast positions. In short, Saudi political discourse is a school in rhetoric and politics; it chooses its words clearly, defines its goals steadfastly, and makes peace a political objective worth working for.
