The Food and Drug Authority has warned against using painkillers for prolonged periods or in high doses, advising everyone by saying, “Do not let painkillers be the cause of greater pain.” It urged safe usage and pointed out that excessive use and high quantities lead to several risks, including: liver damage or failure, stomach ulcers and bleeding, kidney failure, high blood pressure, and drug poisoning.
The Food and Drug Authority specified safe usage methods for painkillers, starting with reading the active ingredient to avoid taking two medications with different brand names that contain the same active ingredient, adhering to the prescribed dosage and duration according to the internal leaflet and the instructions of the doctor and pharmacist, and not exceeding the specified dose. Other advice includes consulting a doctor or pharmacist before use, especially for the elderly, pregnant women, or those suffering from heart, liver, or kidney diseases, or high blood pressure.
