The Egyptian Football Association is working to resolve the dispute between national team captain Mohamed Salah and the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan, in a move aimed at bridging differences and ensuring the star of the “Pharaohs” participates in the upcoming camp, ahead of the resumption of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Egyptian journalist Ahmed Abdel Bast, via his account on the “X” platform, revealed that Hani Abu Rida, the president of the Egyptian Football Association, intends to visit Salah in Turkey in the coming hours, with the aim of settling the disagreements that arose during the last camp and bringing closer the views with Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim Hassan, the team manager.
This step comes after tensions followed the match between Egypt and Angola last September, which ended in a goalless draw, after Hossam Hassan decided to substitute Salah in the 60th minute of the match. The coach clarified after the game that the substitution was purely for technical reasons, denying any connection to the captain’s injury.
Salah left the camp after the match, a development that raised questions about the nature of his relationship with the coaching staff, while no official announcement has been made to clarify the details of the dispute or confirm a resolution between the two parties.
Abu Rida’s efforts come within the framework of the importance of having Salah in the national team, as he is its captain and one of its key attacking elements, especially with the upcoming matches against Malawi in the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers, scheduled for November 13 and 17.
The national team’s camp is set to begin on November 9, with the coaching staff looking to continue the positive results and strengthen their lead in Group B, which is shared by the Egyptian team and Angola, with both having 4 points, while Malawi occupies third place with three points, and South Sudan is in last place with no points.
The Egyptian team started its journey with a goalless draw against Angola, before achieving a significant victory over South Sudan with five goals to none, while the matches against Malawi represent an important test for the Pharaohs in the race for qualification to the finals.
