أعرب الملاكم السعودي سلطان المحمد عن سعادته بتحقيق الفوز على نظيره المكسيكي إريك فيليغاس، بقرار الحكام بالإجماع (UD)، بعد ست جولات، في النزال الرابع ضمن مواجهات «المكسيك ضد العالم»، مؤكداً أن هذا الانتصار يمثل له الكثير، ويمنحه دافعاً لمواصلة تطوير مستواه خلال النزالات القادمة.
وقال المحمد في تصريحات خاصة لـ«عكاظ»: «الحمد لله، راضٍ تماماً عن المستوى الذي قدمته في النزال، وهذه المواجهة أضافت لي خبرة كبيرة، وإن شاء الله القادم أفضل».
وعن أصعب اللحظات التي واجهها خلال النزال، أوضح: «لا توجد لحظةً أصفها بالأصعب، فكل ما حدث كان تجربة تعلمت منها الكثير، وسأعمل على مراجعة الأخطاء التي ارتكبتها لتجنب تكرارها في المواجهات القادمة».
وأشاد الملاكم السعودي بمستوى منافسه المكسيكي إريك فيليغاس، قائلاً: «خصمي يستحق الاحترام، وكان منافساً جيداً، وأشكره على قبول خوض النزال معي، والحمد لله أنني تمكنت من تحقيق الفوز».
ووجه المحمد شكره للجماهير التي ساندته خلال المواجهة، مؤكداً أن حضورها ودعمها كانا محل تقدير، معرباً عن أمله في استمرار مساندتها له خلال مشاركاته القادمة.
واختتم المحمد حديثه لـ«عكاظ» بالتعبير عن اعتزازه بهذا الإنجاز، قائلاً: «هذا الفوز يعني لي الكثير، وأحب أن أهديه إلى جنودنا المرابطين على الحدود، وأسأل الله أن يديم على المملكة نعمة الأمن والأمان».

وقالت والدة المحمد في حديثها لـ«عكاظ»: «والله يبارك فيه يا رب، والله يسعده، وإن شاء الله يوفقه، وأشوفه إن شاء الله بطل عالم يا رب، الله يحفظه لي يا رب».
وعكست كلمات والدة الملاكم السعودي مشاعر الفرح والفخر بإنجاز ابنها، وتطلعاتها إلى أن يواصل تحقيق الانتصارات، وصولاً إلى المنافسة على الألقاب العالمية في رياضة الملاكمة.

For her part, the mother of Saudi boxer Sultan Al-Mohammad expressed her happiness at her son’s victory, praying to God for his success in his sports career and hoping to see him as a world champion in the future.
Al-Mohammad’s mother said in her conversation with “Okaz”: “May God bless him, and may God make him happy, and God willing, I will see him as a world champion, may God protect him for me.”
