The military operations within the “Yemen Dawn” operation continued on the Yemeni battlefronts today (Monday), with a new advance by government forces on the western coast and an escalation of confrontations in Taiz and Al-Jawf, amid ongoing airstrikes and military operations targeting the positions and mobilizations of the Houthi militia.
Field developments on the western coast
In a significant field development on the western coast front, a security source confirmed that the Southern Giants Brigades and the National Shield Forces achieved progress towards the north of the Dhubab district and the Al-Amari camp, following an attack targeting Houthi positions in the northern outskirts of the district.
This advance comes as an extension of the operations carried out by Yemeni forces around Bab al-Mandab and Dhubab, after regaining control over the district and strategic locations within it during previous phases of the operation.
The new movements gain military importance considering the strategic location of Dhubab, overlooking the Red Sea and close to the Bab al-Mandab Strait and Mayyun Island, in addition to its oversight of vital routes and passages connecting the western coast with the interior regions. The Al-Amari camp also represents one of the important military sites in the vicinity of the district, making its security and surrounding area a crucial factor in consolidating field gains.
Intense battles in Taiz
In Taiz Governorate, confrontations continued on several fronts, particularly in Al-Aqroud southeast of the city, following Houthi attempts to advance towards the positions of government forces and popular resistance, which were met with counterattacks and ambushes that helped thwart those attempts, according to field sources.
The government forces announced their repulsion of a Houthi attack on the Kahlān front in the Sabir area south of the city, while other fronts are experiencing a state of tension and anticipation, coinciding with the ongoing Houthi siege and the deterioration of humanitarian and service conditions.
In a development reflecting the magnitude of the humanitarian crisis, Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan issued a distress call, warning of the deterioration of the health sector, stating that hospitals are only operating at about 20% of their capacity, with a large number of health facilities having ceased to provide their services.
Advances in Al-Jawf and targeting reinforcements
In Al-Jawf Governorate in northern Yemen, government forces announced the completion of their control over the strategic Huwishan heights, following confrontations with the Houthis that have continued since the end of October, during which the forces managed to advance through commanding positions and hills east of the Al-Hazm city, according to military sources.
The area gains field importance due to its oversight of routes and sites linked to the Maraziq and Al-Alam area, enhancing the forces’ ability to maneuver and secure their positions in the vicinity of the governorate.
