The training camp for the Saudi national team in the city of Khobar, scheduled from December 21, 2026, to January 3, 2027, has been canceled. This camp included a match against the Qatari national team on Sunday, December 27, and a match against Jordan on Saturday, January 2, with the latter taking place behind closed doors. This decision follows the announcement by the Asian Football Confederation yesterday (Tuesday) to reschedule the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which is set to be held in Saudi Arabia, to take place from December 23, 2027, to January 21, 2028, instead of the previously scheduled dates from January 7 to February 5, 2027.
The decision came after coordination between the Asian Football Confederation, the local organizing committee for the tournament, and the Saudi Football Federation, resulting in a change to the upcoming edition’s schedule that extends nearly a year from the previously announced timeline.
The local organizing committee confirmed that it continues its preparations and coordination with the Asian Confederation and all relevant parties to ensure an exceptional edition of the continental tournament that befits Saudi Arabia’s stature and the aspirations of Asian fans.
On another note, the Saudi national team will hold an external camp in the Qatari capital, Doha, during the international break from November 9 to 17, and the Green will play two matches; the first against their South Korean counterparts on November 13, and the second against Uzbekistan on the 17th of the same month.
