The “Translate” initiative and the Saudi comic book releases attracted the attention of visitors to the Kingdom’s pavilion at the 2026 Algiers International Book Fair, where the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission presented samples of Saudi literary production and initiatives to support and transfer it to readers around the world.
The “Translate” initiative witnessed wide interaction from publishers, translators, and visitors who learned about the goals of the initiative and its mechanisms in supporting translation from and into Arabic. The commission showcased its role in connecting Saudi publishers with authors, agents, and international publishers, opening opportunities for partnerships and expanding the reach of Arabic content to global markets.
On the publishing side, the pavilion captivated its audience with the “Stories from Saudi Arabia” collection and manga and comics that combine storytelling with visual arts, addressing youth and adolescents in modern ways. The exhibits also included samples of works by Ghazi Al-Qusaibi, Omaima Al-Khamis, and Abdulaziz Mushri, allowing visitors to learn about prominent experiences and voices in Saudi literature.
The commission’s participation combines introducing Saudi creativity and providing opportunities for its publication and translation, as part of the Kingdom’s presence at the fair, which continues until November 7 of this year.
